only way to say it better.....

BIG GAME!!

It won't be easy at JU, but I have the feeling the team is focused and wants it.

If CU wins, the UNF game will also be BIG!!

Excellent piece by Channel 11. Even showed footage from '92! Thanks for sharing, SW!

RE: vs Jacksonville
Nice video by that news channel. I have one gripe with your head coach's comment (rough quote) "We only go to the NCAA Tournament if we win our conference tournament. It's not like the ACC."

You guys should be outraged! I'm outraged just hearing that. He acts as if the ACC just automatically receives bids. Take a look at the Pac-10, coach! If Campbell were undefeated right now I don't believe the conference tournament would be as big of an issue....

(The A-Sun has had at-large berths before!) I'm sure OC is aware of that.

I'll be keeping an eye on this game, just as an interested bystander. I've been pretty tough on the Camels this year and they've proved me wrong a few times. We'll see what both JU & Campbell are made of tonight though..

RE: vs Jacksonville
I am curious when the A-Sun has gotten a second team in? I am not as verse in A-Sun basketball history so please let me know when a second A-Sun team was able to get in to the NCAA Tournament. Basketball in the A-Sun would seem to make it a one-bid league. If two have gotten before I would like to know when it was. Was it the recent history or was it some time in the 70's when Jacksonville playing in the championship?

RE: vs Jacksonville
It was in 1994. College of Charleston went as an at-large while UCF won the auto-bid.

So the A-Sun has had an at-large berth more recently than Mercer or Campbell has made the NCAA's. Sad story, huh?

RE: vs Jacksonville
Straight from an old A-Sun Media Guide.....

1993-94

College of Charleston (14-2, 24-4) - first year of round-robin play in TAAC, but was not eligible for TAAC tournament....lost by 10 to Wake in 1st round

UCF (11-5, 21-9) won the TAAC tournament championship.....lost by 31 to Purdue in 1st round

---

As far as prior to last year (1st year NIT berth guaranteed if reg season champ loses in conf tourney) when you had to be truly INVITED to NIT.....

1986-87

#4 seed Ga Southern beat #1 seed Ark-Little Rock....UALR went the NIT won 3 and made it to the semis at MSG, lost in consolation game. The prior year, UALR won the bid to the NCAA tourney as a 14 seed and beat #3 Notre Dame and lost in 2OT to NC State. (I distinctly remember those games!)

1987-88

#3 seed Tex-San Antonio beat #1 seed Ga Southern in the TAAC tourney...Ga Southern and UALR went to NIT (both lost 1st round)

1988-89

#1 seed Ga Southern was upset 1st round of TAAC tourney by Houston Baptist....UALR went to NCAAs and Ga Southern lost 1st round NIT

1994-95

CofC (15-1, 23-6) still wasn't eligible for TAAC tourney....#8 seed FIU (4-12, 11-19) played cinderella and won the conf tournament (#1 UCLA beat them by 36 1st rd of NCAAs).....CofC lost 1st rd NIT

1995-96

CofC (15-1, 25-4) still wasn't eligible for conf tournament....UCF lost 1st rd NCAA, CofC went to NIT beating Tenn 1st round before losing 2nd rd to Rhode Island

2001-02

#3 FAU won the A-Sun tourney...#1 Ga State (14-6, 20-11) lost 1st rd NIT to Tenn Tech

2003-04

#2 UCF won the A-Sun tourney...#1 Troy State and #3 Belmont went to NIT and lost 1st round

2005-06

#2 Belmont won the A-Sun tourney...#1 Lipscomb went to NIT and lost 1st round

2006-07

#2 Belmont won the A-Sun tourney...#1 ETSU went to NIT and lost 1st round

Thanks for the info guys. Like I said I am not the verse in A-Sun history and didn't really want to do the research if someone knew off the top of their head.

So, is the #1 seed a mathematical "no" for the Camels now?

Hope this loss inspires CU at UNF and at the tournament.

Yeah, cause after losing we needed 2 ETSU W's + 1 Lipscomb L + 2 Belmont L's

ETSU won tonight but so did Belmont so that eliminates our #1 seed chances I assume.

I guess we are Mercer and Kennesaw fans on Saturday so we can get the #2 seed.
