Great turnout at luncheon today
First time I had to walk around to find an empty seat. Asreal Rolfe presented extremely well. Courtney is obviously a shy kid, but did fine (I probably would have fainted if I had to talk in front of a group of adult professionals at his age). Mouzy simply wanted to know where his grandpa was. Steve and Matt joked about the fact that the UALR coaches urged him to accept a DII scholarship which they felt was the right level for him. Matt wouldn't take no for an answer. There may have been some joking involved because it was clear UALR sent him a letter (or whatever is the official process in such cases) asking him to walk on, while ASU showed no interest at all. Matt was obviously very proud of his 2 Division Championship rings (point of fact-The Chickenhawgs have not won their Division in 15 years). Steve stressed that he can't wait for Guy, Sonnier, and Leeper to get here. He indicated they are still recruiting the junior college ranks very hard. I'm not sure about this, but I think he indicated that they hoped to sign two more players. He apologized for this season and mentioned it was the first time he has ever experienced a single digit win season or a 20 loss season

What do the Razorbacks have to do with any of this, holy cow..?!?

You're getting better. You went 4 days without a gratuitous Hogs comment. Resetting the clock.

My apologies, Scotto. There may be another former high profile program who has not won a division title in 15 years that I could have cited as well. I simply have heard that mentioned about 100 times in the local media as your "other" team tries to win the Western Division. Seemed to be an interesting comparison to me.

Still don't know what winning 2 Divisional titles has anything to do with the Hogs not winning any. Are you attempting to compare the 2 programs..?

I'm comparing how they are doing against the teams they compete against. UAPB winning 4 regular season SWAC titles (I don't know if they have divisions) in 6 years would be impressive. That's who they are competing against-other SWAC teams. Doesn't mean they are as good as UALR, ASU, or even UCA. It means their coach is winning against programs that are similar to them with regard to facilities, financial resources, etc. I think that's all you can ask a coach to do. We have competed well against our competition over the last half dozen years. Many folks think a division title doesn't mean anything. They have every right to that opinion. But the local media has continually talked about how UAF may win their first division title in 15 years and certainly talked it up as being a big deal.
