Future Lady Trojan Scribner wins district championship
By MARTIN COUCH SPECIAL TO THE DEMOCRAT-GAZETTE

STUTTGART — In a battle of the two best players in the 2-4A Conference, Lonoke’s Asiah Scribner got the edge.

Although Clinton’s Whintey Donahue scored 24 points, Scribner countered for Lonoke with 23 points and eight rebounds in the Lady Rabbits’ 62-44 victory over the Lady Yellow Jackets for the championship of the 2-4A Tournament on Saturday.

Cara Neighbors, Scribner and Ashleigh Himstedt led Lonoke to a 7-2 lead early in the game, but Donahue led Clinton back to cut the lead to 15-10 by the end of the first quarter. Scribner came back for Lonoke to hit a three-point play and start an 8-0 run for a 25-12 lead.

Clinton got as close as 27-20 early in the third quarter on a three-pointer from Chelsey Bradley.

Scribner scored six consecutive points, Neighbors added a basket and Emily Howell made a three-pointplay to open up a 34-22 lead for Lonoke.
