Someone from administration is definitely
reading the board. Have you seen the officlal board today. Picture of Matt dribbling the ball with a nice little headline about how he leads the team in 3 point shots. They also give credit to Ricky for his 3 point percentage.
And then miraculously, for the first time I've ever seen it officially mentioned, a paragraph about Matt being #6 on the all time 3 point shooting list and moving up. Maybe they've done it before and I haven't seen it, and if that's the case then I apologize. But in any event, I'm glad they giving all these kids credit for what they're doing. Not just Matt. Solo is now 6th on all time single season free throws made. Now that's promoting your players. Give credit where credit is due. In a disastrous season like this one, they need all the positive reinforcement they can get. I'd like to see this posted in Jeff's column in the DG. That would be a nice thing to do.

And they have a dedicated page for Reed for her All-American candidacy. And Steve Shields show is on the site too.

If she's not the best female player to ever play here, she's certainly the most colorful. Her personality is just as infectious as her basketball ability. I love watching her play.

How could she not be the best to ever play here? She's probably going to break the school scoring record in three seasons, although Jocelyn Love would have had more had she not been injured her senior year. But barring injuries, Chastity should put the record well behind her in her senior season. And like Pete Maravich, she's done it without the three. Jocelyn made 212 three point baskets in her career. Chastity was 2-11 last season, and probably hasn't made ten in her whole career. She very seldom even attempts them. Don't even know if she's made any this year or not. Without a doubt she's the better all around player in the Sun Belt this year. Middle Tennessee's Alysha Clark may score more, but she gets most of hers under the basket, mostly off the glass, and doesn't do the other things Chas does.

I admit my lack of knowlege of the women's program in the past but had heard about Jocelyn and Alicia Cash, so I didn't want to demean their careers. But there's no doubt with the success of our women's program, a player like Chas has a better chance of national recognition. Whether or not she's the best to ever play here can obviously be debated since every great player has different skills and strengths. But there's no doubt she's a terific talent. Maybe she'll get to the WNBA, and then we'll have one each in the NBA and WNBA. Although Fish will probably retire before Chas is drafted.
