Dear ESPN,
If I gave a crap about rednecks driving around in circles, I'd be WATCHING THE FARKING RACE!!!

Seriously, ESPN, WTF? I'm watching ESPN. Isn't that enough? Why do you keep telling me change the channel? Do you seriously think there's a group of people out there who care about Neck-car, but just can't miss the Villanova-Providence game...so they need constantly be kept up-to-date?

I'm more upset at Time Warner. I was watching the Cincy/Uconn game today. And with less than 2 minutes left in the game, they cut away from the game and starts to show the Rochester Knighthawks/Boston National lacrosse league game. They run a little message at the bottom of the screen saying to see the rest of the game on digital channel 96. I only have digital on 1 tv in the house, so I had to go into the livingroom where my wife had some friends over to watch the rest of the game and deal with the women folk fussing at me for interrupting them.

I'm not a NASCAR fan, but I do believe it probably has a much greater appeal watching LIVE moreso than watching it on TV. Outside of golf and soccer, I can't think of a major sport that is more boring to watch on TV than race car driving.

Cheers,
Neil

RE: Dear ESPN,
I know... Thats why I said I hear ya man...

The funniest thing I hear all the time is only Rednecks watch the sport... I'm far from being a redneck... I'm from one of the most worn down cities in the Pittsburgh area.

Then wouldn't it annoy you if you were constantly told that you should care about a basketball game while you're trying to watch a race?

Riding a bus isn't a sport, so why is driving a car a sport?

Riding a bus isn't a sport, so why is driving a car a sport?

Where did I say it was a sport?

And when did I tell you to watch Nascar in the middle of a hoops game?

RE: Dear ESPN,
Not one for NASCAR although I'd like to see a race live as I imagine it'd be kinda neat for the whole uniqueness type of factor. Its just too boring for me and I'm not quite enough of a gearhead to get into that part of it either. Admittedly I don't follow college hoops as closely as I follow college football, but I'm not huge on basketball overall. Forget trying to watch an NBA game in the post-Michael Jordan era. On the other hand I love hockey so this time of year is great whether its NHL or Olympic for me. Soccer I love but its hard to catch a game on TV from MLS and the European stuff is on at odd-times usually. Alls I know pitchers and catchers are reporting this week and I couldn't be happier even though the Mets will likely suck yet again.
