NIU and the Score
It's 10:13 and the Score does not give our score on their update. Loyola got blown off, too--both my alma maters.

RE: NIU and the Score
The Laurence Holmes interview with Doeren was nice. Can we really blame a radio station that has 20 seconds for score recaps for not mentioning us? I know we're on 670 but I'm not gonna blame anyone for not gving a score update for NIU vs Ohio

RE: NIU and the Score
If it were an Illinois score, it wouldn't get overlooked. NIU is a paying affiliate of the station, Illinoi-ing is not. Take care of those who take care of you.

As much as I hate the Score, you make a valid point. Let keep our program a secret for the next 15 moths.

Yeah, I'd rather hide until we do some good. It sucks that we aren't worth mentioning basketball-wise. At least they mentioned our football team's scores last year.

RE: NIU and the Score
Honestly speaking, the WSCR is simply a network of talking heads spouting crude opinions to generate listeners and therefore advertising dollars. If you dial in WSCR for purposes of getting keen objective take on your favorite professional, collegiate or prep sports team, then you are doing the wrong thing.

It's the nature of sports radio. Or in other words it's mild entertainment sometimes, a big waste of time most times.

we should be grateful the score is even broadcasting our bball games. What do you think the size of the audience is. I would not be surprised if the bball portion of this deal ends.

I just listened to that Holmes - Double D interview. Not too bad....Holmes said he might make it out to a Huskie game next year. Then he remembered about the game at Soldier Field.......I like Holmes.

Audience makes no difference. We pay for the broadcasts.

I really hope we move to another station (or stations). One that show us at least a little respect.

RE: NIU and the Score
Yeah - the Holmes interview was decent. He could've done a little prep for it. Asking him about the Wisky game in Soldier Field seems like a pretty obvious question to me if you take 5 seconds to glance at the 2011 schedule.

I agree - I can't believe they get even 1000 people listening. I think basketball on the radio is brutal (really only baseball & football translate well on radio IMO). I would bet they have 100-200 people listening.

I understand that we are paying but I don't think they like that the station is ignored during these periods.

RE: NIU and the Score
I don't think it's a big deal that they don't mention us in the updates. Think about it, they give the Illinois score (biggest team in the state) and the schools that are considered "city schools". SIU is a much more established basketball school than we are and they very rarely mention their scores, if at all.

Also, when NIU buys the air time from the Score, they buy just the airtime for the game and NIU Live. There is nothing in the contract requiring them to give a crap about the team beyond that time. If they are doing their job in fitting the most pertinent info into the time constraints of an update, NIU basketball probably is not part of it, but if you think about it, they always mention the football games because the team is better and more relevant.

I can guarantee if our basketball games were on ESPN, it would be the same thing...it's much to do about nothing, except for people who are looking for reasons to bash the Score.

Holmes can be as bad as the others. If other people trash NIU, he usually joins in also, have heard it many times from him.

RE: NIU and the Score
I don't like it when Score personnel diss NIU, but the station does have an excellent signal, which means a lot if you live outside the Chicago area. Out here, if you picking up MVP at night, you are DOA. I wouldn't want to try and pick up a night road FB game on WMVP when it comes in clearly on WSCR.

I don't think I've ever heard The Score NOT mention the outcome of an NIU game. I'd chalk this up as a simple mistake.

Such as?????? I consider myself an avid Score listener and about the only thing I have heard Holmes say remotely negative about NIU is him not agreeing with the Bears drafting Wolfe in the 3rd round. As a Bears fan I agree with Holmes and that opinion.
