Pitt Rumor to the Big 10
Sounds like BS to me. There will be no announcement this week or next week for that matter.

Its starting to smell like bs. Alot of the good contacts I know are saying it to be true but theres no credible media outlets reporting it yet. I'm going to say if theres nothing credible coming out tomorrow this should be a dead rumor.

I've been totally dismissive of all of these rumors ... so far. But this Pitt thing is starting to have the ring of credibility about it. My spidey-sense is tingling, worried ... Would be a tremendous blow, maybe fatal, to the Big East as a football conference.

Bogus?!? How can that be. Didn't the Memphis "insiders" just confirm it today???

Oh, that's why it's bogus. Gotcha. 03-wink

Carry on.

Cheers,
Neil

Take two aspirins and get some good sleep tonight. You'll feel better in the morning. 03-wink

RE: Pitt Rumor to the Big 10
what really tears this rumor up is that the big ten said they would conduct a 12-18 month search until they decide not who to add but if they should even add a member. Then after 12-18 months if they decided the should then they will begin to search for a feasible candidate. You are telling me Pitt has been picked in a months time and is going to be announced next week?

Good old Bob Pomp of KDKA was tweeting about the Pitt rumors. Didn't make too much sense because an idiot could realize theres some talks going on.

The problem with that is that our administration and several others in the Big East are against adding UCF to the picture. As a USF fan, I am against it as well. You might as well just throw our years of building our football and basketball programs out the window.

If we are forced to add any C-USA school then it is East Carolina for their fanbase alone. Don't really need another Florida school in the league.

If it turns out that this rumor is true, then the Big Tin did this move to destroy the only TRUE rivalry in The BEast in the hopes that we'll finally die off. That way the other BCS conferences won't have to share the pie with us, and they can all finally quit listening to the MWC's complaints...

However, I'd like to think that karma will strike again making both Big Tin basketball and football suffer as a result...

We don't need a proactive commish. What we need is a split. We have to get rid of those people influencing decisions who have no interest in football, so we can forge our own destiny, without outside interference. Only then will we become what we all desire. And if any schools don't agree, let 'em go independent in football. We will find schools that actually want to be part of a BCS level all-sports conference, and appreciate what they have. I know for sure that UC, UofL, and USF appreciate what they've gained. I sometimes wonder about the original 5 remaining...

Guy from Pitt's fan site just said on ESPN 1250 in Pittsburgh that the story is not true.

RE: Pitt Rumor to the Big 10
I didn't think it was. But it wouldn't surprise me either way. Frankly though, I think if the Big Tin were to take a team from The BEast, they'd try to take either Syracuse or Rutgers over Pitt. They already have the Pennsylvania market covered by Penn State. They get as much press in Pittsburgh as the Panthers do...

I sure hope this is correct, and not just the AD putting out propaganda while a deal is in the works behind the scenes.
