I wasn't even going to put it out there as something I was told by anonymous source. You've blown my cover. Now some are going to want to know my source and I was never going to imply that there WAS a source. No problem, though. I'm just glad to know how it is . . . because I would hate to be holding out false hopes for the next 8 months or more.

Thanks for the insight. I was one of the guys that felt he was never going to come, especially after our season. Wasn't this guy getting recruited by Big East schools until they figured he wasn't going to qualify. Why would you go to a losing so call midmajor program when you have an opportunity to go to schools that are in the running for national championships each season. Ok Mr. Mediocrity, put me down for one point for hurting recruiting.

It's obviously no longer a secret. Once again, we build up our hopes of getting a kid we've signed who doesn't qualify to return after Juco, and deep down we know that the really good ones never return. It's a crappy system we live with. We sign a good player, we get our hopes up, he doesn't qualify, he goes to Juco, and then the big boys swoop down and he never shows up here.

Personally I just write off anyone who doesn't show up on campus as scheduled. It's too painful otherwise. I would like to sign some good players who can pass our entrance requirements. And I want some freshmen who are good enough to come in and star for us like the Reed kid at ASU. We always hear that our freshmen aren't ready to play because they're "JUST FRESHMEN". Well I see freshmen starting and playing major roles in programs all over the country. What will it take for us to recruit players who can compete with our conference rivals? Obviously the powers that be don't have the answer to that question.

Well, some teams let players who admitted to making funny-money continue to play. It's all about winning.

That's a good point. Sometimes to run a clean program there are certain sacrifices you have to make. Will seems clean though, definitely a good kid.

I can't help but keep my hopes up for this guy. I don't know Mr. Mediocrity personally so I don't know what kind of recruiting connections he has, and I don't mean to disparage his source, but it still seems to me to be just speculation and rumors.

Didn't we have some really good news about Will posted on this board just about a week ago? And now he definitely not coming at all? I'm just not completely buying it, that there would be such an extreme turnaround in a week's time. My thoughts on it are the same: that we have an inside track, but we better be ready to start competing with the big boys for him in the coming months.

Come on, people. Give it a rest. We need players who can help us win. If Neighbour wants to be the one to do that, fine, if not, that's OK too. There are others we can get and still have a shot at the title. We won't care if he is Dennis the Menace, so long as he puts the ball in the hole when we need him to.

Newton's laws of motion will still apply to the Jack Stephens center and some other tall young man will have mastered them enough to help us win the big one. And it may not even be Hooper Vint.

He said that my source, who is a universtiy administrator, is flat out wrong. Slatton says nothing has changed and that Will stil wants to come here; so, LRA, may you'll be able to ask Will your question some day in a less destructive setting.

Just being a realist but hey it doesn't hurt my feelings if I'm proven wrong. I just don't get all the excitement about a player that might not be here. Until he suits up in the maroon jumpsuit I will have my doubts.

Let's hope the kid comes. We are due for a difference maker.
