Well that also didn't make much sense to me. But after I asked around it seems like there were a few unhappy schools (Furman being one of them) after the basketball conference shake-ups a couple of years ago. I don't remember this so I can't really comment any further. But apparently Furman and a few other schools that were more similar to Stetson voiced displeasure with where they ended up. Stetson's probably thinking that maybe eventually they can "rally the troops" and form something better.

Who knows...

Furman would NEVER leave the SoCon to go to a small time basketball conference. They would be kicked out of the SoCon and have nowhere to play football. I can see Stetson going DIII way more than I can see this happeneing.

I have said this before and was shouted down at BFFF meetings for it, but if Stetson goes non-scholarship football then ETSU needs to consider it too.

At Jacksonville, they have non-scholarship football and it brings in 150 students a year paying expensive tuition. Essentially it brings in $1.5 million before a single ticket is sold.

ETSU won't make that much, but I did the numbers and $900,000 is a real possibility.

If Stetson did this, then the Atlantic Sun could consider adding non-scholarship football for their members. Had they done this sooner- they likely would get a lot more members and keep some others (such as Campbell).
