Ingle now the winningest coach in Kennesaw history
I know that we all have differences of opinions when it comes to tough losses and missed opportunities, but it can't be ignored that Ingle has been great for Kennesaw when you look at the entirety of his career. You can pretty much thank the DII National Championship for spurring the school to move to Division 1, and he inherited a pretty dirty program, cleaned it up, and actually started winning.

Kudos to our coach.

Per the KSUOwls.com website.
---------------------------------------------
MACON, Ga. – It wasn’t easy for head coach Tony Ingle and the Owls, but Kennesaw State’s leader claimed his spot as the winningest coach in the history of the program as KSU edged Mercer, 71-69, on the heels of a game-winning lay-up by Spencer Dixon on Wednesday night before a raucous crowd at the University Center.

In a tooth-and-nail contest, Ingle’s Owls (9-12, 4-6 A-Sun) pulled out the two-point win for their third straight win and third conference road win in a row. With the win, Ingle won his 166th game as head coach of the Owls, overtaking the Owls first coach, Phil Zenoni, for the most wins in the history of the program.

I do not see this as an individual accomplishment, but as a team accomplishment,” said Ingle after his milestone win. “I am proud to be associated with this program and all of the talented student-athletes that have come through our program.”

The dramatic affair saw 15 ties, 13 lead and no lead bigger than seven points. Markeith Cummings, the leading freshman scorer in the country proved why, scoring a game-high 25 points. Fellow freshman LaDaris Green recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

“I am proud of this team tonight,” added Ingle. “We found a way to win the game after three tough possessions at the end, but we overcame it, played solid defense when we needed to and came together as a team.”

The Owls led by seven points with 4:51 remaining before Mercer (10-10, 5-5 A-Sun) rattled off eight consecutive points to take a, 67-66, lead with 1:42 left. On the next possession, Kurtis Woods delivered a clutch basket as he hit his only three-pointer of the night, a gem from the top of the key that hit nothing but nylon and momentarily breaking the Bears momentum and silencing the crowd.

Mercer’s Brian Mills, who had a quiet night with six points answered for the Bears as he followed a James Florence miss with a put back to tie the game with one minute remaining before Dixon’s game-winning lay-up. The sophomore was 5-for-10 from the field, finishing with 13 points and six assists.

The hot-shooting Owls again connected on better than 50 percent from the field, going 30-for-57 for a 52.6% clip while holding Mercer to 44.6 percent from the field. Daniel Emerson topped Mercer with 18 points and 16 rebounds while Florence scored 13 points on just 4-of-16 shooting.

The Owls will be back in action on Saturday night, Jan. 30 when they open up a four-game homestand against the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the KSU Convocation Center.

Saturday night’s game can be heard live on 920 am WGKA as well as on-line at http://www.920WGKA.com. Craig Corbin and Scott Webb will call the action live beginning with the pre-game show at 7:00 p.m.
