Let me get this out of the way, I was rooting for the Saints.

Seriously, how is the NFL OT rules fair? How doesn't the Vikings get at least 1 shot to score at all? This is bullsh1t.

The Viking NEEDED to play better Defense. Now if the Vikings would have forced a punt, got a INT, Fumble or Safety then it would be a moot point.

Anyway, for this year it was 7-6 with the team winning the coin flip.

The interference penalty in OT which got the Saints into field goal position was bogus. What a horrible call. NFL refs suck. The Saints' receiver tripped over his own feet. What contact, if any, there was on an uncatchable ball was insignificant.

The Vikings should have won but self-destructed. And Farve, well, that throw at the end of the game was aweful.

I agree with the bogus pass interference penalty that got the Saints into field goal position. I would prefer the way college does things with OT but I guess the NFL does not agree. I was cheering for the Vikings as I bet on the game. I had the Vikings +4 so I won my bet so I'm happy with the outcome. For sentimental reasons, it would have been nice to see Favre in the Super Bowl but Minnesota made too many mistakes, 5 turnovers is not going to do it against a good team.

Take away that 12 men in the huddle penalty, and Favre never has to pass on 3rd down.

So it goes.

I too was rooting for the Saints. However the truth is the Saints are damn lucky to be playing in their first Super Bowl. For a team to give the ball away 5 times and still force an overtime is amazing. I agree the NFL OT rules suck. Unfortunately most in the NFL agree but are unwilling to change them to something like the college game uses.

The NFL overtime rules may need some changes, but the college overtime rules need some tweaking as well.

I don't mind the overtime rules in the NFL. Stats show that whoever wins the coin toss doesn't have a huge advantage. The Vikings had ample opportunities to win in regulation but kept turning the ball over.

There were about 4 BIG calls on that last drive, and ALL went the Saints way. Luck? Home cooking? I don't know.

What a BEAUTIFUL ending to the game!!!!

NOTE: Last night was the 4th time a NFL Championship Game was decided in OT...but it was the FIRST TIME that the team that won the coin toss won the game!

The other previous teams that won the OT coin toss were 0-3.

crazed has the right of it. The Vikings fumblitis was the reason they lost. But even in overtime, the Viking D had shoved the Saints out of FG range early in the possession, and then let them complete a 3rd and long to get back into FG range. If each unit of the Vikings had done their jobs, without all the mistakes, they'd have won the game...

I'm not at all p!ssed about the outcome. The Vikings had all the chances in the world, and blew every one of 'em...
