My thoughts? With 15 games left a easy much needed victory over a 2-14 team ... well maybe it won't be easy. 04-jawdrop

KB, I hope you get to feeling better. I appreciate your insight with the games involving KSU.

I'll be there tonight. The kenpom ratings give KSU an 85% chance of winning this game, so hopefully they won't find a way to give SIE that 15% chance.

When I first saw the schedule, I thought this was THE Southern Illinois team (SIU) that always makes noise in the MVC (and sometimes is a spoiler in the big dance). Glad to see they're not the same team.

Go Owls!

This is our time to put it together and gain some confidence heading into the final 15 games.

as long as we dont have a half where we score 15 points or lower we should win.

Boy, good to finally get back in the "W" column. It seemed like the team spread the ball around much better last night, at least after the first 10 minutes of play. Of course, the fact that the foul count was heavily in our favor didn't hurt...

RE: SIE (Official Game Thread) - 01/12/10
I caught a little bit of the game last night actually...not all of it, but it seemed like we had changed a lot of what we were doing on offense. A lot more motion early in the offense, trying to get aggressive early in the shot clock. I think this is a good change for our players, as they have a tendency to freeze up when the shot clock gets low. It looks like the coaching staff made some changes to initiate some early offense.

The other thing that I saw was that we attacked more against the press, especially at the end. I caught some of the very beginning of the game, and some of the very end. At the end when SIU-E was pressing we continued to attack and we got some great looks, which was very different from the Campbell game. Again, I think this was an emphasis by the coaching staff, and I liked it. This team has good shooters and athletes, what they need is to learn how to play college basketball. Many of our players are still in high school mode. We need to take good shots when we get them, because often you don't get more than one good look in a possession. We have started to attack earlier in the shot clock, and I think if this continues we will improve and hopefully avoid those long offensive droughts.

Great to get a win, now back to conference play...

Good call KB.

We are also out in transition more too, regardless of who is in the game and I commend the coaching staff for taking the leash off of that too. It gives our more athletic guys opportunity for highlight reel plays which inspires the defense and teammates.

Looking forward to Sunday.

You guys are getting ready to go on a streak where you are playing the bottom rung ASUN teams. I expect you guys to start picking up some W's.

Those slow starts we have need to stop. We were fortunate to be playing a pretty bad team. I'm glad though in the second half we actually started to play with some movement and speed. Hopefully that will be a norm and we turn it around in the conference play.

RE: SIE (Official Game Thread) - 01/12/10
I hope we can start a string together. Momentum means a lot in college basketball, and we really need to start some forward momentum. There were a few times in last night's game where I really thought that our players had comprehended what they were supposed to do, felt confident they were doing the right thing, and executed. That is really the first time I have seen that all year, and it was fun to watch. Granted we were playing a bad team, but it still was nice to see.
