Another game for the Owls. We need our guys to make the decision to be a basketball team again. A lot of individual efforts on both ends of the court. Need to come together as a team again and play some of the basketball that we saw earlier in the year vs. Notre Dame and St. Louis.

Despite the criticism, I think Ingle is doing a good job of playing the guys that want to play as a TEAM and don't have individual agendas (Gibson, Marine, Irby) and reducing the time for guys that are looking for individual stats and glory, which hurts the team.

You know who you are.

You may be right GFWO - I am not sure, but I was disturbed what I saw against ETSU. It seems the coaching staff is in a tight spot. A win would sure cure a lot of ills tonight....

Hope I can attend this game. Missed the one the other night because of the icing on the roads. Anyone been out? How's it look around campus?

I think I speak for everyone when I say we are hoping to see the Owl's turn it around tonight, and I think we will have a good chance to do so. The Owls have always played better at home WHEN THERE IS A CROWD, and from talking to people and looking at responses to event invitations we should have a better turnout then Thursday. Now it is up to our boys to come out fired up and ready to play, and hopefully Coach Ingle can slow some of this criticism with a win tonight.

OWLREF let me be the first to welcome you to the boards. I think you are definitely right. Tonight will be a true test of our team. I have faith that Ingle can pull this team out of its current rut, but something needs to be done sooner rather than later.

Cut it to within two.. follow that effort up by giving up an 8-0 run.. Same story, new day.

RE: Campbell (Official Game Thread) - 01/09/10
Well at least we look like we were a little more motivated tonight, however it is still disappointing to watch us run the same defensive scheme from beginning to end. It doesn't even look like we have scouted the other team, something that Campbell's coach had obviously done (this was proven by the way that they double teamed Markeith Cummings). That said it was nice to see a little variety in offensive play calling, something that was lacking in our game against ETSU.

For all those calling for the retirement of Coach Ingle, I would say that you have some room to complain but lets not get ahead of ourselves here. Tonight I think that coaching did play a factor but a good bit of it was being outmatched by talent. We are one or two good recruits from being a solid team in the ASun, which is understandable as we are just coming out of a probation period. Thus I believe that we need to give Ingle a break this year and see what he comes out with next year. If nothing changes then lets make some noise and call for his termination.

I haven't noticed anyone call for Ingle's retirement.. just that he shares a bit of the blame. If talent is the issue HE is obviously our head recruiter. If scheme or scouting is the issue.. well he's responsible for that too. Head coach will always get criticized when a team struggles this much.

No ones throwing in the towel but guys we have to be honest here.. If we don't improve its VERY likely we're sitting at home come conference tourney time. We can't blame this one on the grace period.

Actually we have a very solid team already if your looking at talent. If this was last years team or the year before i would understand the record and play. But with the talent he has we should have a couple more wins and be putting up more then 13 points a half.

Ingle def shouldnt be fired or have to retire, but its obvious that transition period took a lot out of him. Its no secret he's had some health problems in the past. I've been to a lot of the homes games this year, and he doesnt have quite the fire like he used to. My brother even commented he didnt seem to have it either in his summer camp which he's been to the past 4 years. He was telling me he looked exhausted every day.

RE: Campbell (Official Game Thread) - 01/09/10
I was at the game last night, and to be honest I was happy to see the effort. Our guys didn't play all that well, but for the most part played hard, and played together. If they continue doing that I think we will be a tough out come tournament time. Campbell is a very solid team..much more well rounded than in year's past. We have a lot of kinks to work out, mainly how to better get Markeith involved in the offense when teams are doubling him. Last night Campbell's press was VERY good, and it took us out of rhythm most of the game. We started coming back when we figured out how to attack it and score some easy buckets instead of just pulling the ball back out and never making them pay for the press.

Hopefully the team has started to turn somewhat of a corner with regards to how they play and effort. I definitely saw a marked improvement last night in that area. We need it to continue and improve.
