Ty-Meer Brown to UConn
Congrats on the pickup guys. He was a great option QB. Not sure what position Edsell will use him at. McKeesport always seems to have quality kids heading to the next level.

Yeah it was a good pickup. He is really athletic and we done pretty good with PA kids. I have no idea where UCONN is headed QB wise. We landed another MA QB Scott McCumming and the kid is a speedy QB too. We also got another kid from MD who is really fast QB but he might end up with a CB.
Great recruiting for UCONN so far even without all the stars. We also picked up a monster (6'7" 295 LBs) athletic OL from Chicago.
We will see how this MAC ranked recruiting class will do in the next 4 years.

I can't see Brown playing QB in college. He was a flexbone QB that threw at the most 5 passes a game. He'll be a receiver or DB.

Yep. Agreed. He is a good athlete. UCONN QB of future is Michael Box who is 3rd on the depth right now. Endres got another year after next.

Animus - you are right, he will be playing safety for UCONN. Here is a good writeup from Pittsburgh area newspaper. Originally he wanted to play QB or WR but Edsall got him to play safety. UCONN is building a nice pipeline from his school.

Congrats to Ty Meer.
Ty Meers dad was a great player at WVU and the kid was in Morgantown for the summer camps etc. I really wish the Mountaineers would have offered. I'm glad he got a free ride at a BCS school

Though Pitt was full up at the time of his commitment, they did offer at some point in the recruiting process. McGee was offered by Wisconsin and the latest commitment ha Maryland and NCSU offers.
Some have wondered what UConn would be like with recruits other schools want. We will find out soon enough.

Here is what an OSU fan posted on UCONN's Rivals board. It is a good thing we got a kid out of B10's backyard and another from Maryland's backyard.
The highlight video of the kid looks like he walked off the screen from the movie "the Blind Side". Of course, it was against high school competition so who knows. He is definitely huge though right out of the high school. He also has a 3.76 GPA and was a late boomer. I think Edsall can develop a kid like this. It is exciting from UCONN because he is the first from that area.
Quote:Gregory McKee of King College Prep has drew alot interest and attention, but bad news for the others and good new for UConn for he commited to UConn on 1/8/09.
Gregory McKee (sr, 6-8, 295lbs) linemen from King High School has drew alot of interest and attention from many schools lately. This massive and dominant Offensive lineman Gregory McKee of King College Prep now has offers from:
Northern Illinois
Eastern Michigan
Connecticut
Akron
Ball State
Wisconsin
Ohio State
Army
Vanderbilt
He made an official visit to Connecticut on December 4, 2009. The 6-8, 295 lineman was an ALL-AREA Offensive Tackle from the King Jaguars team that advanced deep in the CPS playoffs and finished 2nd in their conference. He will graduate early and make his to UConn January 19, 2010.
Many things are expect out of this guy. ESPN ranked him, 3rd in the state of offensive lineman, and also put him in the top 100 OL in the nation.
Congratulations UConn!
You could see his Highlight video here:

Got to love this comment from UCONN's most recent recruit Josh Alexander - "“I just received a few more offers,” said Alexander. “In addition to New Mexico, Temple and Rhode Island, I now have Connecticut, Maryland and North Carolina State as well. I plan to visit Connecticut on January 21st. I really like Connecticut because they put players in the NFL, they have nice facilities and they have a real focus on football there. I will also visit Maryland and North Carolina State some time in January too.”
Maybe younger kids don't see UCONN as a basketball power anymore.

RE: Ty-Meer Brown to UConn
Someone posted this on the UCONN board about UCONN's 2004 recruiting class. It was one of the first for UCONN in the BE. Here is what happened to some of the players. When 29% of your 87th to 95th recruiting class either have or had a sniff of the NFL, you are doing something right. Can't wait to find out what will happen to all the players we recruited last couple of years.
Quote:UConn's 87th rated recruting class of 2004
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Actually the class was tied for 87th with Baylor, Temple, Wyoming, Arkansas State, UCF, New Mexico and Louisiana Tech, So it could have been as low as #95. There were 28 recruits in the class. Only one - TE Chris Lore - earned 3-stars from rivals. The rest were 2-stars or below.
When I call Randy Edsall a genius when it comes to evaluating high school football talent, I do him a disservice. He's better than that.
William Beatty – 2nd round NY Giants pick, started 3 games rookie NFL season.
Tyvon Branch -4th round Raiders, established NFL starter
Darius Butler -2nd round Patriots, part of Pats secondary rotation.
Julius Williams -UDFA made Jaguars squad.
Dahna Deleston – UDFA Bears, waived.
Keith Gray-UDFA signed with Panthers, now on Colts practice squad.
Larry Taylor, recently signed with NY Jets after all star return career in CFL
Dan Davis UDFA signed with Colts, waived.
Louis Allen – solid short yardage back for Huskies
Afa Anoai – now a pro wrestler
Steve Brouse – solid TE with many career starts
Tony Ciaravino – checkered kicking career with Huskies.
DJ Hernandez – QB and WR with solid Huskies career
Ellis Gaulden – talented often injured Husky, Great UConn high jump career
Trey Tonsing –valuable back up for Huskies
Kenny Tinney – talented, troubled, never played a down for UConn
Maurice McClelllan – picked Huskies over Nebraska, UNC, Wisky, Purdue, Syracuse, never played
Robb Lunn – just a big, fat, white guy
Chris Lore – only 3-star recruit in UConn’s recruiting class of 2004
Is our recruiting better in 2010? If it is, get the freak out of the way. BTW, there were many Boneyarders who watched this group go through their entire college careers and said, we just don't have the talent to compete in the BE. Some still think it. But the evidence is contrary.
