Yep... he is only on a small number of stations around the country during the week (I think all Florida markets safe Dayton, Ohio and Richmond, Virginia). He also is on Sirius M-Th with a replay of his morning show and Friday 10-2 with a totally off the wall show... unedited and all. I will admit that his show is hit and miss.

Do they go after McCarney at UF? Gruden with big money big dreams? Tuberville?

As for UL, that will probably seal the deal for Chandler to the Cards, with his visit starting today in The Ville. Also look out for Marcus Shaw to come our way.

Long term IMO it was a good move for USF. As much as Leavitt has done for that program they were not going to move up to the next level with him.

If I was the AD at USF my first two calls would be to Jim McElwaine and Kirby Smart. The OC and DC at Alabama.

Former WVU offensive coordinator Calvin Magee is being mentioned. Gruden is locked into his ESPN deal for next year; he's not going anywhere.

I support this move, IF we have someone we have good reason to believe to be a better coach lined up to replace him.

While i am not happy with how our program has plateaued at the 8-4/papajohns bowl level, i DO realize that this is better than a lot of programs, and that if the new coach ends up going 5-7 with no bowl game, we'll all (in the USF community) wish Leavitt was still the coach.

So i cautiously support this move.

Tommy Tuberville. I think he should be USF's first choice.

Leavitt is gone. Reports indicate that the leading candidates to replace him are Dan McCarney, Tommy Tubberville, and Calvin Magee.

I hope it's not Calvin Magee. As I recall, he accused WVU of racism and said he was told by someone in the administration he would never be coach at WVU because of the color of his skin (something that was vigorously denied).

Although if it IS Calvin, it will certainly add another dimension to the WVU/USF rivalry.

RE: Leavitt fired according to Mike and Mike
As for Leavitt getting fired - - He took USF from literally nothing to being a legit college football power, ranked as high as #2 in the nation. He's done a tremendous job, but I would agree with those who think that he's probably taken the program as far as he can. Someone else needs to take it to the next step. I think with the increased visibility on Leavitt his antics were ultimately going to be an anchor around the program's neck.

Do you think this will help stop the November swoons the Bulls have always had under Leavitt? We'll see...

I think he has averaged about 3 conference wins a year in the BE. Not exactly what I'd call tremendous. If USF is smart they will be far better off.

RE: Leavitt fired according to Mike and Mike
It's been a very interesting month or so for college football coaches. You have Leach, Mangino, and Leavitt getting fired over "issues" rather than wins and losses. All are good coaches running capable programs with success. Not lumping these three together, mind you....just saying. There are parallels.

One must wonder if its more a matter of school administrators attempting to reclaim some of the "power" football coaches have attained throughout the last few years via sky-rocketing salaries and rock-star status. Time will tell if it works out for the Universities in the end...I'd argue that Jim Leavitt brought more recognition and $ to the University of South Florida than any person in its history...if the next guy doesn't bring more, is he a failure? Tough call. Firing a guy with a winning record is a crapshoot anyway you look at it.
