Isn't it nice that once again there were five MAC teams bowling? We've come a long way since a 10-2 NIU team got left in the cold.

Forget about a 10-2 NIU team that got left in the cold, how about the 2005 NIU team that was in the MAC Championship. Either way, I'm glad we are getting jacked around anymore. Hopefully the Int'l Bowl surivies and we have 4 bowls on an annual basis and don't have to hope other conferences don't fill their slots.

Now that we are getting opportunities en masse, unfortunately the overall performance in terms of W-L is pretty pathetic. We were very close to winning 3 of 5 this year, and I'd be happy with that kind of record year in and year out. I think the most disappointing loss this year was OU losing to a 6-6 Marshall team that fired their head coach. Temple played impressively in the first half of their bowl game and will be force to be reckoned with next year.

With regards to bowls going forward, I like our H Bowl and GMAC Bowl hook ups.....slightly smaller venues with good local support and usually will be very entertaining (and winnable) match-ups for the MAC I would think.

P.S. Bowl snubs: Miami in 1998 with a 10-1 record...beat No Carolina in the regular season, who fthen inished 6-5 yet got the nod from the Vegas Bowl, and took about 200 fans to the game.

While we are reviewing sad nostalgia, I recall a 9-2 Bronco team that was in the MACC sitting home as well (ah, the days when the MACCs were all on Marshall's home turf).

The most gut-wreching game was the last 30 seconds of BG-Idaho.

Despite the Marshall scenario (6-6, head coach fired), I still had a bad feeling about that game. Maybe because the Marshall program still had some of that leftover bowl game-savviness from earlier in the decade still with them. I don't know. But I wasn't too surprised by the outcome of that one.

Motown: I don't suppose the fact that OU has never won a bowl game figured into your Pizza Bowl pre-game concerns??:)

Pretty ironic we've gone from very good teams sitting at home with no bowl game, to anybody with a winning record getting a bowl game.
