RE: STR- NCAA rejects Florida State Appeal
i think the fact of how widespread the cheating was – 61 athletes – makes the circumstances a little different from what we've got going on.

I'm pretty much pulling this out of my butt, but....

The Florida State sanctions involved ongoing academic fraud facilitated by an employee of the university. In other words, the university's own actions (through the actions of its agent) resulted in the ineligibility of the players, FSU could in no way be said to have been relying on the NCAA clearinghouse in playing those players since the actions that resulted in their ineligibility took place after the student athletes reached campus, and FSU had actual knowledge of the players ineligibility (whether or not the administration or coaching staff knew, I'm sure that in this situation that, since an employee of the university was facilitating the fraud, that knowledge would be imputed for the purpose of liability).

yup, it's a different deal.

I am glad for their appeal and the sunshine law court case that got our appeal documents out in the open, because without that, the world wouldn't know about the COI's illicit threats.

Did the NCAA go back and impose stiffer sanctions because they appealed? Oh wait, BCS school. Nevermind.

Why do I think the timing of this announcement and Bobby's last game are somehow related??????

You got pretty much the idea of what happened with the Florida State Seminoles athletic teams and programs. The real crime was bringing student athletes who have no real business being in college at all, one good example is the current cornerback for an National Football League Team, Cromartie.

This along with Bobby Bowden having not so great a winning percentage guaranteed he was not going to be their in 2010 season. Since it lookw like lack of institutional control, the only way to satisfy enforcement for the NCAA.
