I don't think so. Cincy didn't score any non-garbage-time TDs. Meyer never called off the dogs offensively, but the UF defense clearly didn't have the same intensity in the second half. They were playing relaxed.

I really think we can blame that 5-star recruit who switched from UF to FSU this week. A dominating UF win was meant to signal to now-wavering recruits what they'd be passing up if they don't go to Florida.

Well, Cincy did win in one important area: fan support.

"Cincinnati has taken over New Orleans. I think you should know the UF pep rally took place in a phone booth earlier today — that's how many fans they had."

At least the Bearcats traveled well. That will bode well for future bowl bids...

However, UC is now 0-2 in BCS games. If you get to a big game, you're supposed to win. That's what WVU and UofL did when we got our opportunities in the BCS...

The sad thing about this is Cincy didn't look any worse than Alabama did last year when they lost to Utah in the Sugar, but because Cincy isn't a name team they'll fall far further than the Tide did last year in the final polls.

He is nott theonly one, the word is another switched to Bama and that the Meyers situation coupled with the loss of assistant coaches is hurting the Gators. FSU is doing very well and is going after many of them..
Wouldnt surprise me to hear Meyers come out and say publicly that he will be back as HC next year to calm the recruits.

Prior to this game, we all know Cincy's D is not very good. UCONN put up almost as many points as FLA did against Cincy at their home. The only chance they had tonight was out scoring FLA. Kelly normally does all the play calling. The interim coach Quinn looked completely lost and Cincy offense looked horrible most of the night as a result.

Football games are still won in the trenches. Cincy could not establish the run and as a result they got killed.

Thing is, Cincy didn't establish the run after the West Virginia game. They only ran 15 times vs. Illinois and 18 times vs. Pitt.

UC had a great season, just unfortunate that this game probably gets the most light on it.

I'm not really. I just wanted to return a shot, and it happened to be a USF fan posting it...

What's that say about the rest of this conference (especially USF)? 05-stirthepot 03-nerner

not much.... I dont understand why you guys want to make it a USF thing. The loss today made all the Big East look bad including USF. So its not something any of us is jumping for joy about.

Um, take a look around this thread and tell me which team's fans are giving us the most crap right now. I'll save you the time, it's USF. You're beating a dead horse telling us we embarrassed the conference. No ****, we embarrassed the conference, but a fan of USF has absolutely no room to talk, considering you've never even sniffed the stage we were on last night. Your fans ought to know their place.

I thought your backup QB would have done better against FLA D with his scrambling ability. FLA DLs basically pinned their ears back all day and rushed the QB because Cincy can't establish the run. Your interim coach made no adjustment so the result was expected. You guys still had a great season despite the performance tonight.

Thanks... we under-utilized the run all year long. Look at what we did in the second half (basically playing them even) when we tried to run a little bit. Heck, Ramsey's first run of the game netted 10 yards, and was called back due to holding (meaningless hold by the center on a sweep). They didn't even try to go back to that until the 2nd half.

I had no illusions that it would have made a huge difference though.

Absolutely not. Meyers showed no mercy towards his alma mater.

Actually, according to some of the UF posters that have been visiting our board for the last month, they did let up on defense a bit. Apparently for our last few drives they had mostly backups in, and I guess our final drive they had all their backups in.

At least we scored some ******* points this year. I'm happier with 51-24 than I would be with 51-0, though I don't know why.

My sincere hope at this point is that most UC fans over the next few days will take this game for what it is and put things in perspective. The brilliance of the bowl game is that it has absolutely no bearing on anything if it's not the NCG. Doesn't take away our repeat title, or our perfect regular season, or any of the amazing memories of this year. It's an exhibition game to see where you stack up. We don't stack up too well, especially on defense, but hey, now we know.

I remember being in Miami last year, and on the ride home I was literally the only person out of two dozen who wasn't affected by the outcome. To me, bowl games (again, not including the NCG) are a celebration of the season, and the last two years, those have been pretty awesome celebrations. Of course I want to win, but if I had to pick between a win over Florida in the Sugar Bowl and a win at Pitt to get to the Sugar Bowl, I'm taking the Pitt win all day every day.

Anyway, hope UC fans won't let this get them down. Dream season.

Yes, anyone who thinks those 3 second-half Cincy TDs were scored against a motivated, intense UF defense is kidding themselves. The gators clearly took the foot off the pedal (defensively) once the game was in garbage time (the whole second half). Cincy scored 3 meaningful points in the game.

Alabama wasn't beaten nearly as badly by Utah as Cincy was by Florida. Hell, Florida gained *400* more yards. That's almost impossible to fathom.

No question. As a USF fan, i fully tip my hat to Cincy for their dominance of the Bulls and the whole Big East this year. They were our champions and far superior to us. But this thread is about the Sugar Bowl.
