Cincinnati has tried to keep it under wraps all week, but the Bearcats are expected to have a new look on Friday night: white uniforms with white helmets, replacing their signature black hats.

According to Mike Waddell's twitter, that's untrue. He says we're wearing our usual black helmets - so someone's misinformed here.

Waddell says that UC "will take the field" in the usual black helmets. What does that mean? During pre-game warm-ups the Bearcats will wear the black helmet? He does not state that UC will PLAY the game in black helmets. Definitely some strategically ambiguous communication here. I still think UC will wear white helmets during the game.

I hate all of these special uniforms. I know it's means more to sell, but can't it none the less.

It's the Sugar Bowl. The SEC team is the home team. It always is...

I don't get why all these teams wear these special all-white duds for big games now. Not that it affects performance, but like TexOrange said, stick with what got you there.

It's all marketing I believe. You wear a special uniform and people who like it (a larger number when the team wins), buy some fake uniforms, etc. Meanwhile those who don't don't like it, won't buy it anyway.

The only way we'd do away with it is if we stopped buying regular team stuff as a protest, but I don't see that happening.

Ohio State's "tribute" uniforms against Michigan about made me want to make me gag.

Sorry that you didn't like the uniforms that OSU wore for the UM game. I thought they were great.

It's all about the money! UC is trying to capitalize as much as they can on this year's team just in case the next few years are a dud. It happens all the time in sports and business.

I guess in all honesty they weren't that terrible (other than the helmets), but OSU-Michigan is not a time to mess with tradition like that and I don't like the precedence.

We have to wear white uni's we are the visiting team b/c the SEC team is always the home team for the Sugar......

Having said that, I wish we could do Black on Black or Red tops and Black bottoms b/c those two are my fav combos.....

White helmets? Ugh...I guess I will have to see how they look. They don't "sound" cool anyway.
