When will our Philly connection begin to pay off?
We were going to have a great pipeline into that area. So far, we've fallen flat. Curtis Jackson. One season. Gone. Nick. Nothing so far.
Still hope there. I seem to recall Spuriel and McBride had Philly connections, but they never made it to campus. Nobody on the horizon for next year. All three signees are from Texas. I'm still waiting.01-lauramac2

I think the pipeline sprang some leaks. I thought when Wes was here, we'd have a pipeline to Central Arkansas High Schools and Parkview in particular, but that didn't materialize either. Goes to show you kids will sign where they want to without regard to so called conections.

Clarence Finley was Corliss Williamson's cousin. Didn't help us sign Corliss. 6'11 Hooper Vint, is our color analyst's son. I doubt (hope I'm wrong) that this will help us land what might be a program changing player.

Kids in central Arkansas just don't grow up wanting to play for UALR.

You know, with half an ounce of imagination, and not really all that big of a budget, I believe I could at least make a stab at making us "Little Rock's team." I don't want the job, but I don't think it would be that hard to do.

Imagine that.

Very good.04-cheers

I thought it was silver and maroon.

What are the official colors, anyway?

I'm not sure. I won a pink jersey signed by all the women's players from last season's team.04-cheers

Well that still leaves kids in South, East, North and Western Arkansas. Plenty to choose from.04-cheers

Which coach is from Philadelphia? If you're speaking of Coach Terry, he's the Director of Basketball operations isn't he, and and I didn't think they could recruit. I thought only the head coach and two assistants could recruit. Seems like I remember that Coach Fricke couldn't recruit at one time, and he was a full assistant.

We had a pretty good pipeline from Detroit and Gary, IN at one time, and it produced some ball players.

The whole deal on that is pretty strange. Yes it is coach Terry. And Yes, he can't recruit. Still there was apparently a belief that his Philadelphia connections could still be valuable in helping us get "in on" certain players.

As I understand it, he can't recruit off campus. Or maybe there's a thirty mile rule or something like that. But he can certainly point out players and probably utilize his contacts so that our other coaches can recruit the players. But so far, not much going on from Philly.03-melodramatic
