Congratulations to Solo. #23 in the NCAA in
free throws made. Only player on any of the lists right now. Doesn't have the highest percentage on the team, but nobody else has enough shots to qualify. Nobody else on any of the Top 100 right now. Matt is just off the 3 point list. If he hits a few more tomorrow, he could move back into the Top 100.

Speaking of interesting stats, there are 10 teams with a player who has shot more than 100 3 pointers and is in the Top 100 in 3 pointers made.
Here are the teams, the shooting percentage of that player, the number of attempts and the season record of the team.

Ole Miss. 38%. 100. 11-2.
Morgan State. 34.6%. 107. 7-5
Nichols State. 35.3%. 102. 4-9
VMI. 34.6%. 104. 4-6
Navy. 29.3%. 116. 4-8. (Can you imagine Shields letting a 29.3% shooter take 116 3 pointers at this point in the season?)
Long Beach St. 46.1%. 102. 6-7
Green Bay. 43.3. 104. 10.4
Hartford. 38.9. 113. 2-10
Seton Hall. 31.1. 132. 9-3
Mercer. 38.2.102. 4-8

By comparison, our leading 3 point shooter has taken 71 shots and is shooting over 40%. There were 12 players out of the 100 who have takent less than 71 3 pointers. The most amazing stat was put up by a kid from Columbia University. He's made 29 3 pointers out of just 46 attempts for a 63% average. Astounding. Only 4 teams out of the ten that made this list have winning records. The only thing it proves that one player can't win games for you. You need more than just a 3 point shooter, or a guy who can hit a lot of free throws. You have to have scoring and rebounding from your inside player. Sort of like a great running back. If he doesn't have a good offensive line blocking for him, he isn't going to make many yards. Takes guys doing the down and dirty work to have a winning team. The John Fowlers and Brandon Pattersons, and Zach Grabers and Richard Hardmans. Maybe someone will step up soon.04-cheers

I think Courtney can become that type of player. We just need to get him to do a little more scoring for us. If he could give us 8-14 points a game and 8-12 rebounds, he could fill that #4 spot nicely.04-cheers

If Courtney could become an 8 and 8 man, he would solve some problems.
