Agreed. UT seems bored with the UT system.
Could it be that they know it fails in the SEC tournament and beyond?

I know, how can we want them to win and want them to lose at the same time. Is this a no win situation, or a no lose.

It's a no win for me. Especially when they play UK. It's gonna hurt to root for the Vols.

I don't have a problem rooting for the orange bastards if it helps our cause. As a consolation prize we get to see Kentucky lose. To me that's a win-win.

I know you are right, but I just cannot root for them. Fortunately, my preference has no bearing on the outcome.

Any team playing against Kentucky I'm rooting for. Besides John wall ain't that good anyway, well....sorta not that good.

Fortunately, this is nonsensical. One team isn't going to magically give us a better RPI and lift us 3 seeds in a bracket. We need to cheer for UT to lose every single game. If this is really, really important to you, cheer like crazy for Arkansas State, Montana State, and Oakland to be a bit better.

Is it better for UT to lose every game and suck, or is it better for UT to win every game and possibly beat us? Think about that one for a minute or two and get back to me.

To continue; the mere suggestion that the University of Memphis "needs" anything from UT, is dependent on UT for anything, or will benefit from UT winning a single game is the biggest load of garbage imagineable.

The more wins our opponents have the higher our RPI. Argue the math if you want to, but that doesn't change it.

I will bite. An opponent of ours playing at home and losing would be more valuable:

RPI = (WP * .25) + (OWP * .50) + (OOWP * .25)

If an opponent of ours wins at home it counts for 0.6 wins. Multiply that by 0.50 and that equals 0.30

If an opponent of an opponent of ours wins on the road it counts for 1.4 wins. Multiply that by .25 and that equals .35.

Thus it is better that the opponent of our opponent win on the road.

Your turn for rebuttal.

One individual game does not equal the entire body of work. Split hairs much?

The difference in the math is neglegible when you consider that each team plays .00027 of all the games. It is infinitely better for UT to suck completely than it is for them to be any good at all. Cheering for UT and saying you're doing it because it helps us is pure nonsense.

Argue the math all you want; but it doesn't change anything.

I will be cheering for UTK not to win against UK
And for Kentucky to lose.

I will do this twice this season.

Being a finance guy, the mathematical paradox of them both losing in the same game will keep me up tonight, but it makes me feel better.
