My mom works as an admin. assistant to the dean in one of the schools involved with the realignment and she found out today that her services are no longer needed after January 15. She has 21 years with UAB...less than 4 years from retirement.

She's hoping that she can find another place within UAB to land until her retirement, but only has a month to find that place. Prayers would be appreciated.

Very sad to hear :-( Prayers for her and other loyal UAB employees. I hope the long-term employees can be reassigned.

I am not sure if this will help or not, but as long as she can find a job at a state institution, her retirement clock will continue. Any public high school or state funded university will qualify for the rsa (retirement system of alabama).

She is definately in my prayers.

I added these possibilities to broaden the chances of employment. Hope you don't mind the additions. Also check with the RSA to see if there are any other places that will count toward her retirement credits.
