I think he got hurt in that game. Didn't Colt McCoy have a terrible game against Nebraska?

McCoy against Nebraska in the Big XII Championship Game
20-36 for 184 yards passing
0 TDs
3 INTs
-20 yards rushing and 1 rushing TD

In a close Heisman race, it doesn't help to have that kind of game at the end.

Yep-- that's why I thought the guy from Neb. was the only deserving finalist. Case Keenum should have gotten serious consideration this year.

It was really a toss up but I think Ingram earned it.

Did the annoucer screw it up last year? ...........

"And the winner of the 19... *****...* The 2008 Heisman trophy is Sam Bradford!"

My heisman vote would go:
1.Gerhart
2.Suh
3.Ingram

I've only seen Gerhart play a few times but I can tell you he is a MAN. He just about ran over every player on the field in that Notre Dame game. Suh is a heck of a player too. He threw Colt McCoy all over the field.

RE: Mark Ingram of Alabama wins the Heisman Trophy
In Bama's three cupake games, Saban only gave Ingram the ball a combined 29 times. Imagine his stats if he had run the ball 20 to 25 times each of those games. Without a doubt, I would have Ingram over Gerhart, but even being a Tide fan after the Tigers, I would still have voted Suh over Ingram. I guess that's due to my preference for strong defense. I'm still not convinced that Ingram was the most dominating player on Bama's team - that may have to go to McClain.

Anyway, I loved the genuine emotion and humility in his acceptance speach.

As a big Crimson Tide fan, I'm elated for Ingram. I though Colt McCoy would win and thought several others were certainly deserving as well but if you look at the numbers that Ingram put up against the highest rated defenses in D-1 football, with only having one really poor game(Auburn), he made his own case too. Congrats to a great young football player and here's hoping that here is no Heisman jinx in store for the Tide. As always, Go Tigers and Roll Tide Roll.

This year no one really stood as the real clear favorite over everyone, so that why this was such a close vote for running back Mark Ingram of the Alabama Crimson Tide to win the Heisman Trophy last night.

RE: Mark Ingram of Alabama wins the Heisman Trophy
I am biased, but I really thought Suh deserved it. Dominant RBs and QBs come along every year and put up big numbers, but you see a dominant D-Lineman once a decade or so. I watched almost every Nebraska game this year and Suh took games over....without the ball. If Suh didn't deserve the trophy, when will a defensive player deserve it? Just make it an award for offensive players.

I was happy to see such a humble guy win the trophy though. Ingram was really honored and broke down in his speech and barely made it thru it. You could tell it meant a lot to him. He came a long way from Flint, MI.

He's not even the best player on his own team. Rolando McClain is the MVP of that team in my opinion.

Bama hadn't even had a 2nd place finisher before Ingram. Closest was David Palmer finishing 3rd. Talk about a guy about 15 years ahead of his time...

Alabama, by the way, was the team with the most wins in history (825) without a Heisman winner. The vawls now own that distinction.

I hate the Vawls but IMHO Peyton Manning got jobbed.

I agree with you on this.

Ditto....ESPN really did a sales job for weeks on Charles Woodson...I could see him getting the best defensive player award but the Heisman??

It appears a lot of Heisman voters waited until after the championship games were completed before voting. I was very surprised to see the Stanford player come in second and Tebow fifth!
