This is laughable. While NC doesn't have a dominant program we sent 4 schools to bowl games last season.

UNC, NCSU, WF, Duke, VT, ECU, UVA, USC etc etc etc

I am sure the gamit is covered in Charlotte; it is a decent size city. I know there are a lot of Mountaineer fans in Charlotte, not the ASU varitey but WVU.

Possibly: Coastal Carolina, Jacksonville St, Kennesaw St, Temple, UMass, Stony Brook, Youngstown St, even FIU and FAU from the Sunbelt

I laughed.

I don't agree with many of the schools NoDak listed, but there is a league out there that could be the best non-Big 6 basketball league, and sponsor mid-major football.

My friends, if this were the 90's this league would happen:
Rhode Island
UMass
Temple
Old Dominion
Western Kentucky
Charlotte
Memphis
UAB

Right there is the basis of what would be the seventh best basketball conference, and all are public schools. VCU and George Mason could be possibilities. Throw in a few football-first schools like Southern Miss and UCF and it becomes a legit all-sports conference.

Yeah, it is an ugly football league, but it's better than the current two-bid A10 of Xavier and Temple (throw in a splash of St. Joe's). The only reason the A10 has been a two bid league is due to the conference tourney, and you know that. Xavier=Memphis, Dayton=UAB. Actually UAB has made more tourneys than Dayton in recent years.

So yes, it isn't a good football league, but like I said, it reminds me of the 90's when conferences like the Great Midwest formed with basketball in mind.

The current A10 is a watered down version of the power conference it once was.

*BTW, I'm not suggesting this would EVER happen. The A10 is a good stable league.

You're not giving the A10 enough credit. The A10 is the best 'mid major' basketball conference, and is currently going through tremendous improvement with the rise of teams like LaSalle, Duquesne, GW, Richmond, etc. The A10 will be a 4 bid league very soon.

You're right, my bad. It's not like these A10 teams aren't capable of making it a four-bid league again, they just have to win OOC like they have, and not blow it against the dregs like a couple years ago when five schools could have made it in.

Back to Charlotte football. UMass, Temple, Fordham, and Charlotte should hook up with Delaware, James Madison, Old Dominion, and Georgia State. I think Last Minuteman said that first, and it makes the most sense.

Our goal is to rejoin the BE, or form a northeast conference like we should've years ago, with teams like PSU, BC, Rutgers, Pitt, Maryland, etc.
