it seems like cincis' associate head coach can handle the bowl game no problem, the staff was left in place other then the traitor...........they may pull a wv, beat the gators and then promote fr within...........

This is the solution in my opinion. Jeff Quinn has stated a desire to take over the team, obviously knows the spread offense inside and out, and along with a few other assistants that are likely to stay can help continue to build this thing.

Regardless, I trust Mike Thomas' ability to make a good hire.

Thomas is a smart guy. And Quinn would love to make $1.8 million vs ??? $300,00? (what do assistants make?)

The Cincinnati job is better than any job in Conference USA.

Anyone who thinks otherwise is kidding themselves.

I swear, of all the retarded Houston fans out there, you make them all look cultured, pensive, and articulate. Now scamper on back to the midmajor boards and discuss your chances in whatever spectacular bowl game CDOA has set up for the boys of Cougar High. Woo Hoo!! Fort Worth!! Sorta Almost New Year's Day!! We're Big Time, Baby!!! Kick some 4th-place-ish Mountain West Team Ass! 02-13-banana

Why are these CDOA fans over here yapping? Doesn't their conference champion have a 5-loss SEC team (that finished with a losing record in conference and in the bottom half of their division) to prepare for? They should be all getting ready and hyped for the Big Game and not trolling around on other league's boards.

I suspect he realizes that it's going to be extremely difficult to follow what Kelly has done at UC and doesn't feel up to the task.

Newsflash Bearcats#1, you're not Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama, Florida, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, USC, Notre Dame, etc. I'm a big fan of what Cincy has done, but seriously, relax. Your program is not the end all of end alls.

Maybe he likes Houston. It's not a bad town, if you're into humidity...

really?

Seriously....we are in a BCS conference, you can win the conference and actually get an automatic bid. We have a small stadium, but it's selling out now and we purchased our alottment of Sugar Bowl Tix in 3 days......the town actually cares about UC Football. I still don't get it......let's see, Houston vs CUSA or UC vs Big East with BCS Bowl bids etc.? Hmmmm.....well, let me think about it.....

Don't worry about it, let the UC AD take his time and make the right choice. Hell he might already be on your staff.

I'm not sure why people are offended by this... Last year Holtz turned down Syracuse and SU ended up with what appears to be a great coach. Sumlin may be thinking that in another year he'll be offered by a SEC or Big 12 school.

Thomas will make the right hire. It took him a week to find BK after Dantonio left, let him have at least that long to find the replacement for BK.

You nailed it. Why jump at the first BCS job that comes calling when you can have your pick next year potentially?
