Yea, some may not like him because he coachd at UAT but he does have a Superbowl ring. I would take him.

He coached one year at UAT and was fired because he called a pass play on 3rd and 8 late in the Auburn game trying to get the first down and seal the win. The play worked, UAT got the first down, but the player (Ed Scissums I think) fumbled afterwards and Auburn recovered. AU kicked a field goal to win.

Dubose fired Arians.

His next job? Quarterbacks coach for the Indianapolis Colts with their rookie QB, Peyton Manning.

Kelly from Cinnci just became the next Notre Dame coach in line to be fired sometime in the next 5-7 years. Notre Dame has no recruiting advantage now that everyone is limited to 85 on scholarships.

Add to that a high income TV contract that requires playing a high profile competitive team EVERY week (all other top BCS teams have "cupcakes" that Notre Dame wouldn't be allowed by TV producrers for about 1/3 of the 12 teams they play) which means no rest stops along the season. Look at Florida's and Bama's OOC schedule this season to see what I mean. I would expect that all other BCS top 25 teams had similar schedules with about the same number of "cupcakes" along the way.

If Kelly is similarly unsuccessful, I would expect to see Notre Dame join a conference before 2020, probably earlier so they can schedule like the Bamas, USCs, Nebs, UTXs, etc. do.

I suspect that Kelly is going to kick serious ass at ND.

Given his familiarity of the region from a long stint at Grand Valley State, to the players he probably wished he could recruit to Central Michigan, to the players he lucked out on getting their commitment to Cincy--I see someone who's been primed for success in being a coach in the upper Midwest.

Helton has been named one of 6 finalists for the job now.

Interviews are taking place through Wednesday. I honestly think it comes down to Helton vs. Darrell Dickey (New Mexico OC - Former HC @ UNT).


I think Dickey gets it if he wants it though, his four straight Sun Belt Titles at North Texas show he can win in Texas, it would make sense.
