I sure hope that is the case. Would love for Coach Laing and the Camels to gave a good year and the goal is always to get to the big dance. That would be great. There is a long way to go and a lot of teams to play to get to that point but it is attainable this year where in years past it was not. Depends on how we execute and how bad we want to win.

Thanks for the link, danville.

I was voter #3...one of the two voting for 20+. Might take a win or two in the conference tournament to reach 20, though.

I'm expecting a winning season. Games at WCU and UNCW and home vs JU and App State will shed some light.

Prior to the season it was obvious with the easy schedule and the loss of key players from the top teams that CU should win atleast 17 games with ANYONE coaching them.

Projection before the year:

2-0 against the D II teams
0-2 against ECU & VT
3-2 against UNCA, Longwood, UNCW, App, WCU
9-3 against Mercer, Stetson, KSU, UNF, FGCU, Upstate
3-5 against ETSU, Belmont, Lipscomb, Jax

Am I the only one that believes CUs recent success is because of J-Rod and not Coach Laing? This situation is very reminiscent of the NC State football team. Everyone thought Amato was this incredible coach until Rivers left and they realized he couldn't coach his way out of a paper bag. Instead of someone understanding this, CU decided to let its best two coaches leave. Watkins and Kennen could have been the cornerstones to a great coaching staff. Kennen is long overdue for a head coaching position and CU should have promoted him to head coach and kept Watkins on as the top assistant. Instead Kennen is at UNF and taking all of our Florida recruits. Since our team has 5 Florida players on it right now.

In my opinion the biggest problem is CU has no player development. This falls on the coaching staff. Look at Kyle Vejraska's numbers; he by now should be much more than a 7 point and 3 rebound player considering he started at 6 points and 3 rebounds. Yes I know some of this depends on the player's work ethic but a GOOD coach gets the max out of his players.

One of Kyle's problems is that he is a bean pole. He had not gained an ounce of weight since he came to Campbell. He gets pushed around in the lane and is butterfingers when the ball is passed to him. He needs to take it to the hole with authority which I don't see him do enough. I wish Preston had Kyles height. Then we would have a big man. We need to get a big man with some size and strength which would help us alot.

Tough to see next year being any better. I think we struggle the rest of the way this year.

A real shame, with a veteran team and a weak schedule we shouldn't be in this position. Additionally we have failed to leverage the facility upgrade into a recruiting tool or home court advantage.

The thing is at most schools, 2 of those problems fall on the coaching staff. I seriously doubt they have someone hounding Kyle about putting on weight/muscle. He should be given some sort of diet plan to help him add weight. I agree with you Kyle does need to take the ball to the hole. The ability to do that comes from having the confidence to take someone off the dribble and unless they have been working on his dribbling skills most 6'8 players arent comfortable dribbling around people.

Maybe next year we can recruit a big man who can stay eligible for 4 years and not get into disagreements at the local watering hole.
