Maine (Official Game Thread) - 12/13/09
The team travels up to the Northeast corner of the country this Friday to take on Maine. I haven't really looked much into Maine, but they are 3-4 with some close losses and wins (other than getting blown out at Syracuse). This is probably a pretty evenly matched game, with Maine having the slight advantage by being at home. Should be a great road test for our team. Making that flight up there and playing can't be easy, but hopefully our guys will come out and play a great game on both ends of the court.

Our guys still have not played a complete game on both sides of the court, so I am anxious to seeing all the pieces start to fit together. We have seen flashes of brilliance on offense and defense in different games, but never quite at the same time. I guess that is part of the learning process when many of our top contributors are new to the system.

If they lost to Brown, I don't think there will be much of an issue (just kidding!).

Maine was here last year for our Club 100 tournament and beat us in the championship game. They have a good coach, but not as good as Belmont's coach. We didn't have a strong inside game at that time and they played a 3-2 zone with good results. KB you are right about them having the homecourt and us having to overcome that -- but it can be done. We just need to continue our unselfish play and get stronger scoring inside (?).

Anybody ever find out what happened to Jay Mitchell?

GFWO - All I know is that it is personal stuff, and to be honest, I don't want to know any more than that. Some things need to stay in the locker room. From what I know his absence is not because he committed some sort of trasngression (cheated, drugs, alcohol, etc...). I doubt we will see him this year. I think we should probably just let that sleeping dog lie.

I know he made All-Conference Academic Team last year, which if nothing else shows that he is smart enough to get his education. Even if he doesn't play another game for us, hopefully he will be a good friend, a good student, and a good teammate. Leaving with his degree in tact despite not playing this year would be a tribute to our coaching staff and program. I think it shows that we are not just about basketball, but about doing what is right for the players who attend Kennesaw.

Extremely well said! I hope he does well too.
