Always a good time to be a Cardinal fan.
That was some fun baseball.

Congratulatons to the "Rat" making it into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. His "Cardinal" ball of playing good defense, stealing bases, and using speed to frustrate pitchers lead the Saint Louis Cardinals to Two World Series and beat the Milwaukee Brewers in 1982.

I'm glad Herzog finally made it in the HOF.It's long overdue but the Veterans Committee is limited in the number of people they can approve each year.I think the clamor to get Marvin Miller inducted is coming from the players who played in the 70's and 80's he helped become instant millionaires.I don't think any of today's players have any clue as to who Marvin Miller is.

You are right on this point, TigerEngineer, I forget about the World Series the Saint Louis Cardinals played in the year 1987 against the Minnesota Twins. The use of speed, athleticism and good defense allowed the Redbirds to get out of the doldrums of the 1970's.

Whitey's Cardinal teams were very exciting. Ozzie Smith was my all time favorite.

The trade of Ozzie Smith of the San Diego Padres for Gary Templetlon of the Saint Louis Cardinals in late 1970's, along with the signings of Vince Coleman, Willie McGee and Terry Pendletion helped the 'Birds on the Bat to go to Three World Series. I did not like how the Cards let the Rat go in the end, but current Cardinal skipper Tony LaRussa has led the Redbirds to two World Series, and a win against the Detroit Tigers.
