JUDSON.

And yes we have an And 1 team on our hands.

This team is embarrassingly bad. Time to start rooting for the womens team. Or wrestling. Something.

What's up with the way DiNunno shoots? It's like he releases the ball with both hands or something. It has to be one of the worst shooting forms I've ever seen for a college basketball player. I've seen guys at the rec that have a better release than him. Every time he shoots it's like he just chucks the ball up in the air.

WOWWWWWWWW. We are 6 games into the season and are playing without Silas, and you have given up?

And yeah I agree with 7, Id rather watch minor league cricket than watch the women's game.

I'm just hitting reset on the season when Silas gets back. As far as I'm concerned, these games mean nothing.

However, Silas isn't LeBron. He's not going to carry us on his back to be good. He's good, but he's not THAT good.

I need something to tie me over for a month until conference starts (the only thing that matters).

I look forward to MD's yearly "we sucked in non-conference so today is like opening day" thread. Those are always fun until we're 1-6 in conference play too.

Ooops, I think I just lost NIU a bball commit.

Wasn't the entire focus of the offseason to improve defense?

Well, maybe some offensive work might have helped as well.

Is it that hard not to turn it over and make free throws?

And seriously, stop playing Mike DiNunno. Ever. He sucks. Every minute he gets is a fireable offense for Ricardo as far as I'm concerned.

Wrestling.. not enjoyable to watch, WNBA not enjoyable to watch. Not sure what is wrong with what 7 said. Him being strong or not strong is irrelevant. I sat through the womens basketball games b/c it was something to do on campus and we weren't completely awful a lot of the time, but I can't blame someone for not wanting to sit through guys grabbing each other while wearing tight spandex or a basketball game in which no one on the court can dunk.

I'm sure any olympic shot putter in the world could beat my ass, doesn't mean I want to watch that crap.

ELGIN..
Look if you can't accept that Coach Kill came into a much better position then Coach Patton I really can't help you. You're just not intelligent enough to talk to that at point. I'm not going to waste my time going through this entire thing again, but the fact a guy who got first team All-Mac only got 4 and 6 carries in our two bad losses is really all that needs to be said about Kill's coaching performance.

On the other hand, Coach Patton keeps playing Mike DiNunno this much when X comes back, then I'd chalk him up as a disastrous hiring too. Coach Patton gets more rope from me b/c of the blackhole Judson made this program into. He's already starting Hall now, so he obviously has made adjustments. He put DiNunno at the two a lot of the game which is where he makes the most sense, and it's that kind of coaching adjustment for me, that separates Patton from Kill. Unfortunately DiNunno can't even play there well any more.

The fact DiNunno keeps chucking up bad shots, and making bad turnovers makes him completely useless, and if Patton doesn't put his son or Hall in the game instead of him by the time conference play comes around, then I'll declare Patton a failure too. I think it's time to admit the coaches can't or don't try to get through to DiNunno. Get him off the court until he learns how costly his mistakes are. At this point I'd rather play 4 on 5.. at least a guy who isn't on the court can't make a turnover.

I think the key to playing a Mo Volley opponent is not to get into their type of slow agonizing basketball. Having said that, this was the best defensive team we have played this year. Incredibly hard to believe 3-pt FG percentage, only DiNunno seem to be coming even close. Dixon is hard to figure out he can have such good spells but then not even come close to hitting the rim. There were some positives to take out of the game, our defense is getting better. When Silas comes back we should have enough offense to win some of these games. Bryan Hall HAS to become more of an offensive presence, he has the capability to do so.

Maybe we'd be better off in the MVC playing that "slow agonizing basketball" considering we score only 59.8 points per game.

Where would that rank us in the Missouri Valley with all their slow agonizing teams? I was curious so I looked it up.......

DEAD. FING. LAST.

RE: NIU v. Bradley on TV
Let me see if I understand this……

Is Mike Dunno a Judson or a Patton guy??

The answer is …YES….

Mike DiNunno gave a verbal commitment to NIU after his sophomore year at Lake Park HS……He later signed his Letter of Intent…….Yes, he was signed by Judson……In March 2007 Judson was fired and DiNunno de-committed from NIU…. When Coach Patton was hired his #1 Recruiting Priority was to sign Mike DiNunno, he did…. Yes, he was signed by Coach Patton……That is why the answer is YES…..

Lets analyze the PG position since Coach Patton took over……In his IBM Type Presentation Interview Coach Patton stated he was thrilled to inherit Cody Yelder (PG), First Team All MAC Freshman that averaged 10ppg, field gold shooting percentage 52%, three point shooting 41% and free throw shooting percentage 84%, the previous year under Judson…..Now two years later has Coach Patton developed Yelder into an All MAC PG?…..Where is Yelder? ….Coach Patton has recruited two PGs Brian Hall and Keith Smith (5’5” 135). Both players have been at NIU two years, the same as DiNunno……

Several on this board have been complaining about the PG position for the past two years. One intelligent poster on this board thought our number one recruiting priority last year should have been to recruit a PG. He thought we should have gone after D.J. Cooper, Sun Times Player of the year and PG from Seton Academy…… Ohio came into our back yard and recruited him. Cooper as a freshman is currently averaging 15 ppg, 6.5 rbg, and 6.2 assists at Ohio. Instead, we recruited Tony Nixon also from Seton. I think Nixon has the potential of being a good player for us but does little to help our PG problem. Our top recruit for next year is a power forward from Tennessee. It is obvious that Coach Patton is satisfied with our current players at the PG position…..This is his decision…..

Its amazing to think that this whole PG problem, the play of the team in general and Coach Patton’s 17-47 record is all due to the play of Mike DiNunno…….

I think I am FINALLY starting to understand this……

It was good to see an attendence of 3064 at last nights game....

RE: NIU v. Bradley on TV
66.. I know this, that's why I said when X comes back, I realize right now we're stuck with him in the rotation. Right now he has to be in the rotation, we need a guy who can score, which DiNunno can do pretty well when he isn't making terrible decisions. He's just a god awful ball handler who makes a lot of negative plays and can't run the point. As an off guard when he isn't taking errant shots or holding on to the ball too long (which I realize is not often) he's fine.

Elgin, the Yelder nonsense is tired. We get it, you and Zao miss the guy. He's gone, it's over.

No one said the bad record is due to DiNunno. The record is due to taking over a garbage roster and having to start from scratch. The fact Mike DiNunno plays is evidence of what little he has had to work with so far into his tenure. Like I said though, I'll say he's a failure as a coach just as Coach Kill is, if he continues to play him as much once Silas comes back. There is no defense for letting the kid on the court once we have other options.

The PG situation will be fine when Silas is back and Anderson can play PG, his natural position (in his own words).

We need front court depth, I don't know how you can say getting a PF for this team that has no big men who can rebound isn't a good thing.

We have one scholarship open for a player to sign in the Spring. But that will likely be another big man along with Nate Rucker.

Hopefully the PGs can develop somewhat this season so they can be good by conference starting up/their junior year.

Great explanation. I think he is by far the WORST college basketball player in the history of college basketball.

I am solely going by the fact that he has no real college basketball skill, he has the street game down, but absolutely is a pathetic college player.

As for the Judson/Patton recruiting of this guy, just WOW. I know he was signed by Patton the 2nd time around but I still won't blame him for this "recruiting" choice. I will blame him though for any time he spends on the court that is beyond 2-5 minutes at max.
