No, he left CMU and coached Cincinnati in their bowl game. Cincinnati's opponent was WMU in the International Bowl.

Great question.
However a multi-million dollar BCS game is not the same as a several hundred thousand minor bowl game.

With all respects to our generous sponsors, has a coach ever left the opportunity to coach a BCS bowl for a minor bowl?
