RE: Belmont (Official Game Thread) - 12/03/09
some stats i just found from the game...markeith had 32 pts. this stat is ridiculous to me: we shot 39 3-pointers tonight, and made 12 of them. Thats 31%. Our overall % was 37%. They shot 44%. Rebounds were pretty even, 44-42 in favor of belmont. We won the battle on the offense glass with 16 rebounds compared to their 12. We had four fewer turnovers. But the key tonight came at the free throw line. At the FT line, they made 17 of their 32 for 53%, KSU made 2 of our 8. We lost by 15 at the free throw line alone. That really lends itself to the fact that we had no inside presence at all tonight. hope that changes on saturday.

Cummings 32 points 11 rebounds.

The dude is nasty. This team is going to be rocking in the upcoming year. Don't let these games get you down. We simply have too much talent to have a poor season. Cummings, J Mac, Woods, Dixon, Green and Herramb. Plus Kelvin and his three point shooting. I hope Kelvin steps it up and starts hitting again. When the guy is on fire he is great. This was our first conference game so it's no biggie. I expect our guys to come and kick ass this weekend. Good crowd too!

1,285 official attendance. Don't recall ever breaking 1,200 last season, could be wrong though. Kudos go to the students tonight. I think there were more students on the baselines than "regular fans" on the sidelines.

We need to get something going inside hopefully Gibson will be back soon and give us some more energy inside. Too many 3 pointers taken for my liking

I still dont know why Gibson isnt playing. He's by far and away are best defensive big man, and our best rebounder. I love his energy.

Well guys, I had some issues with my youngest and her braces the morning we planned to leave for the game. It put us behind and couldn't make it in time for dinner. But, we made the game. I ended up at mid court in the third row.

We had a great time with the KSU fans that surrounded us. Class acts for sure. One things was interesting. I was asked by several people about the location of Belmont. Everyone thought it was in North Carolina, by Asheville. For clarity's sake, that is Belmont Abby College. Spread the word, Belmont University is in Nashville, TN.

Your team has vastly improved since I last saw them. Markeith is a beast. We struggled quite a bit, but I give you guys credit for that. We're still young and that will make us consistent this year.

I'll watch 'em play again in Nashville.

RE: Belmont (Official Game Thread) - 12/03/09
Knowing absolutely nothing about Belmont going in to the game outside of them being ranked 1st in the power rankings for our conference, I expected to see a long, quick, very athletic team. Then I got there and saw a team that looked like they'd be ripe for the pickings. If our team could shoot a lick, we would slaughter Belmont. I sure hope Coach Ingle can get better shooting out of our athletes. Our team, I believe has a much higher ceiling than Belmont's squad. Give the fundamental team credit though. While not blessed with the superior athleticism KSU has, they did do the best they could with what they had to work with.

Belmont is extremely young this year. As I've mentioned before neither played a good game thursday night. They have two highly recruited frosh guards that are only going to get better as the season goes forward.. I'm not sure if theres another team in the conference that will be counting on two true freshman as much as Belmont will be. No idea how good they are right now.. or where they'll finish.. but I wouldn't be surprised to see Belmont as the most improved team in the conference over the course of the season.

Belmont makes me sick. Two games in Georgia, both go to overtime, both wins for Belmont. 94-90 win in Macon over Mercer. I wish, for our sake, basketball was like the NHL, you get 1 point in the standings for an overtime loss. I'm just kidding, I don't really wish that, but that's just how I feel after Thursday night.

Yea that was a big win for Belmont tonight. I thought after their road overtime win against us they may struggle down in Macon.

Congrats on the win over Lipscomb. You are right that Belmont is relying on those two freshmen quite a lot. We have one senior currently playing and two juniors (one didn't make the road trip to GA). A majority of our team is sophomores and freshmen. Young teams can be very inconsistent, not only from game to game, but within a game. That is what is happening with us now. We were up on Mercer by 18 in the first half, then we play sloppy and let them back in it.

By the way, one of those freshmen players, Ian Clark had 22 points against Mercer. Both played better Saturday.

Yea were depending on a lot of young and new guys as well. Thats prob why the game against you guys were so close. We had the better athletes, you had the better fundamentals. You saw how good Cummings was, and what i like about him, he had an off night shooting against Lipscomb going 4-12...but he still contributed with 10 assists. I could see either Ian Clark or Cummings win freshman of the year.
