RE: TROY OWNS THE SUN BELT in FOOTBALL

LSU Tigers* - 92,619
MTSU - 20,517
Troy - 18,413
Still think there's a big difference in our attendance? If nobody comes to our games, then certainly no one comes to yours. And if you think for one minute that those figures aren't inflated or otherwise mettled with, then you're just fooling yourself...
Even if you try to argue that its "all about how full the stadium looks and sounds, and 2,000 makes a big difference in smaller venues like ours," inflation makes the difference in our numbers mean absolutely nothing, so I don't know why these threads even exist.
The "official" attendance count for FIU vs Troy was 10,142. Did you know there were less than 250 people in the stands with 20:00 before kickoff on the pregame clock? The number of fans did grow quite a bit after kick off, but there were no more than 3 or 4,000 fans, max.
So please, lets rid ourselves of the notion that these counts actually mean anything, at all...

Troy has no competition for entertainment options. There is literally nothing to do for miles around Troy. So there is no excuse for not having fans in your stadium on a Saturday afternoon. What else is there to do?
You don't get it. There's only 14,000 people in Troy. Try filling a stadium with people you don't have. Our main campus has 7,000 people. Do you really think because all thats in Troy are cows and tractors people are gonna come to the stadium in droves as if Chancellor Jack Hawkins painted hypnotic swirls on the water tower?
The argument that there's more entertainment in Mboro doesn't hold any weight. You're saying because there's nothing to do in Troy people should just automatically show up to games. Last I checked a large number of people don't like football, much less be dragged to a sporting event. I suspect most people who live in small towns are doing what they'd rather do than watch football: playing with videos games and themselves.
Given Troy's success the last few seasons and conference championships and the fact that you "own the belt" you would think that your attendance would be better. Instead its third in the belt and actually down from last year that is sad. Why are you comparing LSU attendance figures with Sun Belt figures anyway? 2000 a game is a big difference when you multiply it by the six home games we had. That is 12,000 more people at MT's games. That nearly equals one home game for Troy.
I guess you won't ever understand that when you say "Troy is third in attendance" that it really doesn't mean anything. Those numbers aren't accurate, and please, spare me your posting a link to ESPN. I'll try to explain it again, because I'm sure you didn't read it:

As for the LSU reference, it's to show that the difference in our inflated "attendance figures" is chump change, it's miniscule. You can tell a big difference in 90,000 and 20,000. You can't tell much, if any, of a difference between 20,000 and 18,000. But it doesn't matter because the numbers are inflated.
For the limited nearby populations, Troy is doing damn good. You say for how good the team is playing, we should have more fans. Well where are they going to come from? I went to every Troy game this year, and IMO we had better attendance than last year, despite what all the inflated head counts say.
