Im getting sick of saying this myself, in football and basketball we are competing and keeping the game close but coming up with a fat L still.
Only exception is Purdue.
Give credit for NIU battling against 7 UNI opponents out there, 5 players and 2 refs. Hard to believe they kept it a 7 pt deficit.
You're a clown. Give it up MD.

I thought Kowal was going to bump the referee, Im glad he kept his composure.

MD is correct here.
The refs were awful. Even Patton was appalled by the foul-calling in the postgame interview.
It truly was the difference in the game.

+1- the foul disparity cannot be overlooked. I have to admit, I get some satisfaction hearing Patton cite this injustice in the postgame interview. He is no-nonsense and tells it like it is. Baker kept trying to keep him away from the subject, but Patton kept going back to it.

RE: NIU/UNI Game Thread
Using "coach-speak" that is in my blood, I hate to blame officials and would say that while our defense was playing very well, we didn't take advantage and score much either in the first 10 minutes of the second half and we had our chances. Granted, they play very good, physical defense. UNI has been that way for many years.
But, I'm not a coach in this situation. As a fan who was watching close to the action, the officiating was not fair to both sides. They were allowed to do a lot of things inside that we weren't allowed to. Kowal was fouled, in my opinion, on several shots inside. He had to battle some very strong big guys and when he tried to respond and establish position he was called with a foul. In a game where they weren't going to call many fouls on UNI and allow them to play that way defensively, their strength and size was to their advantage. We tried to play that way but were called for fouls for doing some of the same things. I thought the Huskies showed up to win and weren't interested in moral victories. This was more like the team we saw earlier in games, unlike SEMO. UNI is going to have a very good season again.

RE: NIU/UNI Game Thread
That's too bad in today's game that you run into officiating situations like that. An ex-football player for UNI who has a rep already that UNI has never lost a game he's done gets to do a UNI game. Something's rotten there. How does that happen?
And I do agree with the earlier posts that Bill Baker is hard to listen to for basketball. He keeps up with the slower pace of football fine, but there could be 3 or 4 passes made and you wouldn't know who did what during that time or who had the ball ever. You don't know who passes inside, or that the ball was even passed inside, and all of a sudden he says Kowal misses and UNI comes the other way. That isn't how basketball play-by-play should be done. I know he's a 'legend' and "HOF'er" and etc. but he's got to be better if he is allowed to continue with basketball play-by-play.
