Sean Miller and Arizona not having much recruiting success
It looks as if Miller and Calipari may be going head to head for some of the few remaining recruits. Many have said, "you are only as good as two consecutive recruiting classes allow you to be." The irony(s) in this situation are the ties that Memphis has to each program now. Depending upon which of these two coaches can be the most successful getting these remaining recruits may determine which school is coming after Pastner in two years.
I believe the school that we need to pull for out of these two is AZ. The more successful Miller is, the more secure we can feel with Pastner...

I think the money, support and loyalty will keep Pastner in Memphis, even if Arizona opens up in 4-5 years.

You are never safe with your successful coach unless he is already playing for his alma mater...
You think Kansas wasnt pouring money and support into its basketball program when Good Ol' Boy Roy decided it was time to move on to UNC?
At the end of the day... two programs full of money, support, and loyalty... the coach will leave for is alma mater....
It is smart for us to wish Arizona well with Coach Miller.... please let HIM be there for the next 25 years because it definitely helps us hold onto Pastner for the next 25.....

Your argument in regards to Pastner is correct, but there are many coaches who just don't want to go back to their alma maters or choose to go someplace bigger.
I loved school at UofM when I went there but to be honest i'd go back to grad school at University of Florida over Memphis if I had the option. That's just me.
Having said that, Pastner would never go to Kentucky. I'm pretty certain of that. It would tarnish his legacy here and overall and i just dont see Kentucky as a good fit for him. AZ yes. KY no.

Ditto
Miller will get recruits once he establishs the west coast recruiting
connections plus he can coach. On another note a weak Pac 10 will
help for a few few years.

They are my 2nd favorite team. As odd as it sounds, they root for Memphis as well. I've heard several of their fans say they love Memphis for the way we have rebounded from the past seasons fiascos and also they love CP.

These Pastner to AZ fears are getting annoying, really.... and I don't see what good they do either (what good does showing insecurity for the program do?). How 'bout we just make things as good in Memphis for Coach Paz as we can, and let the cards fall as they will?

You should also root for Jamie Dixon at Pitt. If Dixon leaves and Miller is doing well at AZ, dominoes would begin to fall, and perhaps unkindly for us. This is a balancing act, unfortunately.

That isn't always true. Let's say that JP has already won Memphis their first title and is on his way to legendary status at UM. He may love his alma mater, but he also may love the idea of becoming to us what Coach K is to Duke. AZ already has Olsen, and while we have some great history and tradition, Pastner has the chance to achieve a greatness here that no one before him has achieved, not Bartow, not Kirk, not Finch, not Cal! That just may mean enough to him to stay.

+1. I have never been a bandwagoner and never will be but I wish Arizona Wildcat basketball nothing but success for now on.

Don't always assume the coach will go back to his Alma mater. Dean Smith didn't and neither did Bobby Knight. I'd be more worried about Texas anyway. Good grief let's just enjoy the next few years.

I would like to think that Josh would never leave us but.
-I'm never gonna believe a coach will stay with us until I see it happen.
-As much as I would hate hate hate to see him leave us, I can't hate him if he was to leave for Arizona.
Maybe Josh see's his loyalty stronger to Memphis since we gave him a chance the same year AZ was in the HC search.
Who knows but him.

You think Miller would leave AZ for Pitt? Who gives a crap about Pitt? Arizona is 20X higher profile than Pitt. If Miller is successful at AZ, he wouldn't leave there for Pitt. As a matter of fact, right now I don't think there is any Big East job that is better than Arizona. UConn maybe?
