Yet Another, Closer To Home Example, Of Why Exhbition Games...
...are a bad idea. When the option exists to do two closed scrimmages against Division I opposition, why even do an exhibition game? The Trojans could have gotten the same experience out of a closed scrimmage that they did today without the embarrasment. On the other hand, maybe the embarrasment will motivate the team, but with murders' row on the road coming up to start the season, I don't see the trade off being worth it.

There is some advantage to having your newcomers play in front of people. You don't want your opener to be the first time they have people watching them.

I actually made the same exact point to PTJR after the game. It's one thing to hear about how new players are lighting it up in practice or pick-up games- It's often a different story when the "lights come on".

I hope you guys are right and our new guys got something out of this afternoon. Especially the Serbian kid. Man, he looked just like a deer in headlights!

If he looked like that at home, in front of 1000 fans, what will he be like in front of 16,000 at Creighton? I doubt he'll see the floor against Ole Miss or Tulsa, unless the benches are cleared at the end of the game. But if he is going to be able to contribute at all this year, he needs to get more playing time in games like Harding, St. Gregory's, and Lyon.
