Breaking news: It was reported that Collaros will start for the Bearcats tonight, even though Pike was cleared to play. Smart move, IMO...

yeah...well I trust BK's judgment on this. Or maybe Pike comes in later in the game? Who knows....I believe PIke may be cleared to play but if he's not playing it's only b/c BK said he wants him 100% not "serviceable".

Collaros has been playing great. Why change QBs, when it could effect the way UC has been playing? Let Pike have time to heal up, or he could have trouble with that arm for the rest of his life. I think it's the right move by Kelly...

Pike or Collaros it does not matter. I want to see what our pass rush will do against either. I would prefer Pike to be honest.

UC has a pretty good offensive line........I would prefer Pike though because if rushed, he is tremendous at making a quick decision and hitting someone on a 5 or 8 yd pass (and of course our receivers are adept at taking 5 or 8 yard passes and going long). Whereas Collaros, if rushed will be more inclinded to scramble and run for the first down.....

Collaros is making it difficult for Kelly to take him off the field. I thought Pike would ease back into action in the fourth quarter last night before UConn made the incredible comeback and put that plan on the shelf. For the Bearcats sakes, I hope Kelly can find a way to get Pike on the field against Illinois, because Cincinnati becomes much harder to deal with if figures out a way to effectively use both quarterbacks against Pitt and in their bowl game.

If a guy is on a hot streak, a coach who takes him off the field risks losing momentum. There's no guarantee Pike will come back from his injury as strong as ever, while Collaros is a known quantity. Also, Kelly should let his arm heal up. If he puts him back in, and he reinjures himself, there's a risk he could be crippled for life...

I don't see any downside to Collaros remaining behind center, while there are a few with Pike - and the biggest one is to the rest of Pike's life. I think Kelly is taking that into account too...

All things being equal Collaros should start. I know people say Brendan Kay will challenge for the starting job next year but I feel that Collaros has to be the starting QB the next two years barring a miracle. He has been that impressive. If he keeps this up he is probably a heisman contender for next year.

I would strongly consider starting Zach vs. the 'Eers. With a bye afterward, it pretty much garauntees a healthy Pike for Ill and Pitt.

Honestly i'd rather face Pike than Callaros. I think Callaros is a far superior player than Pike.

A mobile QB is a big weapon, especially when he's an effective runner like Collaros. Being good at throwing the ball on the run helps too...

You guys forget at what a high level Pike was playing at before he got hurt. Collaros has been great but so was Pike. Pike has a bigger arm. Pike may give you best chance long term to go undefeated. Collaros is a young QB, who eventually will go through a rough patch, whether it is against Pitt, wVU, or in a bowl.

I think Kelly is smart enough to figure out when to bring Pike back in for the Bearcats. He should have benched him in the Orange Bowl after his third interception, and inserted Grutza, but he let the game get away from them instead. I bet Kelly learned something from that experience and is burning the midnight oil to add some interesting tricks to the Cincinnati playbook at this very moment.

I think Collaros throws a better deep ball. That touchdown pass he had to Binns last night was perfect. A 50 yard bomb hit Binns right in stride and had perfect placement. People need to realize that Collaros is a very good passer too.

I said before the game I rather see Pike than Collaros and I stand by my opinion after the game. Had Pike played, I am pretty sure UCONN would have won that game.

I get the impression that UCONN's D was going to give up huge yards that night no matter who was under center.

There really is no way of knowing that. Pike can throw just as well or better than Collaros. Collaros had a couple of good runs, one very good one in particular, but Pike can throw on the run as well as Collaros can.

But it doesn't matter. Collaros played and likely will continue to play. Right now he's almost unstoppable.
