WVU-Louisville game thread
WVU got the ball first. But so far, we've had 2 punts and no score. WVU is starting their 2nd possession now...

Make that 3 straight punts...

RE: WVU-Louisville game thread
Both teams appear to be making their best efforts to do nothing halfway through the first quarter.

RE: WVU-Louisville game thread
Actually, the Cards are looking like the better team right now. WVU better get it in gear, or they can forget about controlling their own destiny...

Thank goodness for the fumble by the Cards. They were driving. So far, both teams have turned the ball over within scoring territory. WVU threw the INT in the end zone, and the Cards fumbled at the WVU 28...

West Virginia has less than four minutes to avert heading into the locker room facing a halftime deficit.

RE: WVU-Louisville game thread
First and goal WVU. But Devine went down to what looked like an ankle sprain...

TD WVU, Jarrett Brown to Jock Sanders... 7-3 WVU 0:35 left in the half...

The Mountaineers played that soft defense again, and allowed UoL to get a FG... 7-6 @ the half...

RE: WVU-Louisville game thread
Louisville goes 3 and out on their first possession of the 2nd half. WVU has the ball and is driving. They're at the UofL 30 yard line now, 2nd and 4...

Jarrett Brown made a great play fake, and ran inside the 10, and the Card who tackled him threw him down out of bounds for a personal foul penalty. First and goal WVU...

2 straight 5 yard penalties have pushed the Mountaineers back 10 yards. But no matter, Tavon Austin takes over for Noel Devine, currently on the sideline getting his ankle looked at, and runs it in for 6... 14-6 WVU

One drive, one TD for WVU in the 2nd half. I think the offense has finally woke up, and the defense looks good so far. We'll see if they can keep it up shortly...

RE: WVU-Louisville game thread
Louisville's 15 yard punt gives WVU great field position. And on WVU first play, pass interference by the Cards at the 5 yard line gives WVU the 15 yards on that punt...

The Mountaineers had to settle for a FG... 17-6 WVU

RE: WVU-Louisville game thread
West Virginia needs one more score to possibly put the game out of reach while the Cardinals will be hoping to force a turnover in the worst way possible.

I think WVU should have left Geno Smith in the game. He's a good passer. Better than Jarrett Brown, IMO...

Louisville had 4th and 24 with 0:42 left, and the hail mary didn't work. Game over (not yet, but a couple kneels and that's all she wrote)... 17-9 Mountaineers

RE: WVU-Louisville game thread
West Virginia sacks Stein twice, then forces him to throw incomplete twice, thwarting Louisville's last chance with under a minute left. The Mountaineers take this one by a relatively sedate score of 17-9.

RE: WVU-Louisville game thread
There was almost no passing in the game. ESPN gave Geno Smith credit for 1 pass completion for -2 yards. However, it was an 8 yard completion. Their statisticians suck in live coverage. This isn't the first huge mistake I've seen...

I'm trying to decide if, after watching this, I should feel more comfortable about the upcoming WVU game or more nervous about the upcoming Louisville game. 04-cheers

RE: WVU-Louisville game thread
Be more nervous about UofL. WVU played without Noel Devine for most of the game, and Chris Neild for all of the game. Neild will be playing NG when we go to Rutgers, and Devine's ankle should be healed as well. Although I think Jock Sanders running style may actually be better in the backfield. He's more of a north and south RB, while Devine spends too much time running east and west...
