This quote from our friend ATLDawg got me thinking...

The Sunbelt is really turning out to be a weak conference this year. ULL had a much better team last year and are doing better record wise this year. Troy is the only real strong team in the Belt this year. I don't think Tech is superior, but really even with our record they would wipe up the Belt this year, with the exception of Troy and even that game I would consider a toss up. ULM looked tough but who knows now with their QB out. and the MUTS and Ark St. just didnt pan out either.
La Tech is not a good football team this year.
Let's take a look at what La Tech has done this year.
2 FBS wins against the 7th and 9th place WAC teams.
La Tech 27 Hawaii 6
Hawaii has 2 wins, their one FBS victory came against 1 win Washington State, there other win a 5 point squeeker against Central Arkansas who is transitioning from DII to FCS.
La Tech 45 NMSU 7.
NMSU has 3 wins, by a combined 9 points. Only 2 of their wins are against FBS competition. They beat 2 win Utah State, winless New Mexico and SWAC power Prarie View A&M by a field goal each.
So...the two FBS teams that La Tech has beaten have a combined 5 wins, only 3 of which are FBS wins. Those 3 FBS teams have a combined 3 wins. There other two wins are against a FCS team and a transitionary FCS team, by a combined 8 points.
La Tech 48 Nicholls State 13
FCS Nicholls state is 1-6, so while you took care of business, Nicholls is awful even by FCS standards. Furthermore the week after La Tech beat Nicholls 48-13 at home, Nicholls played at home against Jacksonville State and lost 60-10.
As if La Tech's resume wasn't crappy enough, correct me if I'm wrong, but La Tech's only common opponent with the entire Sun Belt conference this year is Navy...
Navy 32 La Tech 14
Navy 38 WKU 22
So on top of everything else, you have one common opponent with the conference that you are supposedly "too good" for, against that common opponent you did worse than hapless WKU?
I'm sure you'll find a way to spin all of that, but if you really believe that you'd have 7 automatic wins in the Sun Belt and a toss up with Troy, you are either the world's biggest homer, or just completely off your rocker.
