Sagarin Football Rankings
CU's performance at ODU helped move us out of last place in the Sagarin rankings. (Remember, last year we finished in second to last place ahead of Miss Valley State.)

I think we can take Morehead and Valpo and move higher.

RE: Sagarin Football Rankings
Maybe so - atleast not in the cellar. Just curious - where was ODU ranked?

RE: Sagarin Football Rankings
Are you kidding me! I believe that's about the biggest reach I've ever seen of making something positive out of a negative.
ODU -222
Butler -221
Campbell-244
Morehead-245

RE: Sagarin Football Rankings
Your negativity is still too much. It was probably the best opponent we've played all season and since the program was restarted and one that beat a PFL team already. I can only go by the stats and story but I would like to see the opinion of the one person that actually saw the game would be in OrangeCamel. You are so against this team because of the coaching staff that even if they play well and win you'll find something negative to say.

You're amazing with the constant negativity. Enough is enough. If this thing pains you so much why do you continue to follow this board so closely? It would make sense to get away and live the rest of your life without Campbell football. It was a positive step. End of story. Is it the final step? No, but it is a positive step for the team and program to play with any team that hands out scholarships and have a chance to win the game in the second half.

RE: Sagarin Football Rankings
camel7778, you're not reading my post. I'm not being negative, I'm being real and stating my opinion as a alum and a sports fan.Sorry you don't see it that way. Pains me? Campbell Football doesn't pain me.I would like to see them be successful. I've even made some positive comments this week about the Camels play but I'm not going to embellish something that's not there, I mean saying there's improvement you went from last place to next to last place among 245 teams in the Sagarin Ratings because of the way you lost to ODU is really trying hard to find a silver lining. Now I'm not going anywhere. I will continue to offer comment about the games. If it bothers you so much just ignore them,I don't attack you or any other poster on here all 4-5 of us about your post I may disagree with them but I keep my post within the framework of what I see is the topic. I'm not going to call you out because you disagree with me.If we all agreed with everything this would be a pretty dull world. I can assure you when the Camels win a game or in make progress I see worth embellishing I will be the first on here to embrace it.You call it negativity, I call it honesty, maybe brutal honesty but reality. Until one can accept that in life they're just living.a dream.
Oh and you're wrong I'm not against this team, I'm pulling for them. I actually know some of the players and I really want them to do well. You are right about my being against the coaching staff and I have every right to be. I know much more about why I should be that what I've stated on these boards and I'm not going to discuss them, because you see I really like the University and am proud of it. I just think there's a right way and a wrong way to do things. ODU and Pembroke State are doing that apparently and it has nothing to do about scholarships. They play scholarship programs and they win.Pembroke State is nationally ranked in Division II in only their 3rd year of play and I mean toward the top of the poll not the bottom.
Oh and according to those Sagarin ratings, Dayton,Butler and San Diego are beeter than ODU.

Yeah, yeah....I know! Just pointing-out that it took our score with ODU to pull us out of last place using Sagarin's formula. As improved as the scores are this year, you'd think we would be a little higher. We're currently at the same rank we finished at last year with all those blowouts.

This will be interesting to watch the rest of the season. Hope we can get into the 230s!!

RE: Sagarin Football Rankings
I don't know about the Sagarin ratings. I look at the teams and wonder. Look at Davidson for example, though they have only won 2 games look who they played. I think they played Elon and though they got blown out Elon is on top of the Southern Conference and has 3 times the power rating of Davidson or Campbell. I do think one should get credit for who you play win or lose. I know a high school program that's won only 1 game this year, but they've played the computer rated most difficult schedule in their classification in the state. You gonna hear me say this and maybe not believe I mean this but. sometimes you can lose and be proud of the way you played the game. Sometimes it can be a learning experience. The past 3 games it appears CU may have played at that level. Still I think the most difficult part of their schedule awaits them and how they hold up during this upcoming period will matter greatly if progress is really made wheather winning or losing.

This is by the most positive thing I have ever heard you say about Campbell football. I know you are just being realistic but it realism that I can finally get behind.

RE: Sagarin Football Rankings
Hey just because I don't like the coaching staff doesn't mean I don't pull for the Camels. I'm a NC State fan and I never liked Mike O'Cain nor Chuch Amato (from a fan's perspective) but I still pulled hard for the Pack.

OrangeCamel, they're moving up! I suppose the real measure of success is when the beat somebody rated higher the themselves.

RE: Sagarin Football Rankings
I take all of these rankings and ratings with a grain of salt. Hard to understand how Butler can be ranked 205, but in FCS Coaches Football poll, they are ranked 26th. Now, that may be a bit high, but I sometimes believe coaches know a little better than sports writers, computers, etc.....

RE: Sagarin Football Rankings
I am not sure how it is at the FCS level but I have heard stories at the FBS level that head coaches don't even vote in their own poll or for their own awards. Often times it is the secretary, assistants or other members of the staff that do the weekly voting. Just in my opinion I would value other polls more than the coaches poll.

I believe the Sagarin ratings are based on compter data. I find it very accurate. The AP and the Coaches Poll aren't worth the paper and effort to read.

That is only FCS you are referring to. These rankings include FBS and FCS. That is why there are so many more teams.
