Wolfe and play selection
Anyone seen any evidence of Bears using Wolfe more in space?

Last week he was sent up the middle late and was stuffed when Bears needed to be making plays.

WTF was that expected to achieve?

Two words: Ron Turner

BTW, I don't think it matters who you send up the middle, their o line is horrible.

RE: Wolfe and play selection
He's been used more in general this year, should be happy about that. Not only has he been used, he's played well in his limited time. If he wants to play in this league, he'll need to prove he can do it in a variety of roles, if he's too one dimensional he wouldn't have a chance out there. By keeping the defense honest running up the middle once in a while, the longer runs he's had become possible.

I would still like to see more screens and draw plays for the guy though, but a sweep or pitch play in the NFL is not nearly as easy to execute in the NFL as it is in college. The linebackers are just too fast. While it sounds good to say run it to the outside, it's a lot harder to actually make work. This isn't Madden.

At the very least, he's proven he's a fine third string back, and an acceptable second string / change of pace back, and a great special teams player, and you can make a very nice career off that.

All true in spite of the preseason statements by Turner that Wolfe would be used to take advantage of his skills.

Queue the "Garrett Wolfe is not an NFL runningback" comment from NIJ. It's one of his four cookie cutter posts and it's coming soon.

I aint sayin he is a C Benson but GW would likely be more productive in a different , more wide open offense.
