Well, you're wrong about DAVID lipscomb and Campbell. Neither of them will finish as highly as you tout them. Unless I'm very wrong I think UNF finishes dead last. I would pick Jacksonville to win it at this point in the season. I think Belmont struggles early but will be a tough team at the end of the stretch. Mercer will have talent but I don't see them making a real run for anything. To me the only question mark is ETSU. I pretty much know what to expect from the others but with ETSU I can honestly see it going either way. For good or ill.

P.S. Defense will not be ETSU's question mark...but rather can they score? I ultimately think they will be much better in the post than people predict. Although there is a lack of height there is a rare toughness in a few undersized players that is going to go a long way. A true grit that should a long way in the Atlantic Sun.

I like that Kennesaw is ranked last in almost every poll or publication. We will finally have a chance to put a team on the court that exceeds expectations.

RE: A-Sun Conference Primer
A great write up. I agree that Mercer has trouble with meeting expectations, however, it's forgotten that the head coach Hoffman is only entering his 2nd year now. Most of the crap was with the former coaches. Mercer lost to Belmont in the tourney last year by 1, instead of a typical 30 point blowout in the tourney that MU was famous for under the previous coaching staff. Plus the first winning record in quite some time in Hoffman's first year.

I think ETSU is a lock for the top 3. FGCU will be the "best of the worst". The top 5 are clear cut (in no particular order: JU, ETSU, Mercer, Belmont, Lipscomb). The bottom 5 are clear. Campbell is the team in the middle. I have little faith in their coach. Somehow they destroyed Mercer twice last year, which is still beyond me as Campbell finished with another losing record while MU did not.

The conference as a whole is going to be much better this year. I look forward to seeing how things pan out. I think Mercer, JU, ETSU, and Lip could all win it. I don't really like Campbell. They are average at best.

This is something you guys say every year....but I see no evidence of it.

We sure did destroy Mercer twice last year. Two of the best games we played all year. Get used to it this year as well.

RE: A-Sun Conference Primer
I think Campbell is ranked too low. They should finish second. Anything less will be a big disappointment to me. If we can stop Lipscomb's big man we can beat them too. He never gets any fouls called even though he commits them all the time. Look forward to riding the refs again this year. The A-Sun has the worst refs in college basketball. I have to constantly remind them of the rules and they never seem to get any better. Maybe we can get the umpire that made the bad calls in the Yankees/Angels game to come to the A-Sun and call some games. He would fit right in with the quality of officiating we see every game.

My prediction is Campbell will beat Jacksonville, ETSU and Belmont consistatnly this year. If we don't do it this year with the talent we have we never will.

ETSU will be a defensive powerhouse this year. I have no doubts that ETSU will dominate the league.

Sort of like they did when they lost to us at the end of the season last year.

You mean that part of the year when ETSU stopped playing?
