Couple of points:

A)Uconn fans shouldn't call anyone sloppy after letting the UNC game slip away

B) How about waiting to talk smack untill the time comes when Uconn is actually competitve with West Virginia on the football field...Not only has Uconn never beaten WVU, frankly the games haven't been close

But he still managed to whip the Huskies on their home field last year. Guess UCONN needs to think about getting more bang for the buck, eh?

Actually I believe its Paul Wulff, the Washington State coach. Wazzu is probably the poorest BCS conference school.

i've seen wv play since they joined the beast and this is the worst coach they've evah had, i just stated the facts, he hasn't earned the right to coach major college fb imo. he has mediocracy at best, read my lips,"he is not major college material".........
the league is in no position to train coaches to be great' it has a serious image problem.........03-banghead03-banghead
we will see what happens on the field, the wv d is pourous which benefits uconn big time..........
this has nothing to do w/ wv beating uconn, from the get go i said this

What was Stewart's record as a HC before getting promoted at WVU?

I notice you guys are bypassing comment on UConn's record against the Mountaineers - and the collapse at home to UNC, who lost to Virginia, who lost to William & Mary...

I'd probably ignore it too, if I were you... 05-stirthepot

RE: AND the lowest paid BCS coach is??
I don't know whether Coach Stewart will be at WVU for a long time - I suspect not - but the man earned the job. He pulled together the Mountaineers out of the chaos left by DickRod and whipped Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl. Last year he won 9 games including a bowl, and right now we sit at 3-1 with the only loss to a ranked & undefeated Auburn team on the road.

Coach Stewart is a lifelong Mountaineer who came into a tough situation and performed admirably. As far as I'm concerned, he deserved a shot, and unlike other programs that have collapsed after a coaching change we're still doing fine. We'll see how the season ends, it's a little early to be throwing him under the bus, and I think folks are letting their preconceptions color their judgment.

And until UCONN can actually win a game against WVU, maybe you should worry about your own coach.

it's nice that an employer can have loyalty, where i'm from there is none....
i would love to visit wv if this is how people think, where i'm from its doggie dog and employers are fire happy, conn was a little better..........
then again quite a few employers sold this country out to china, and the people are no better.............

You might be right about Stewart being the worst coach since WVU joined the BE..but the WVUs other two coachs since then are 1)Don Nehlen--college football hall of famer 2)RichRod--partially developed a brand new offense for college football/highly successful coach

You may not think that he is head coaching material, but he is 13-4 as the head coach at WVU, and has proven to be a very good recruiter. So high school coaches seem to feel that he is a quality individual and coach. Ditto a lot of parents. But I'm sure you know more about football then all those folks.

Just out of curosity, do you feel Doug Marrone at Syracuse is head coaching material? Syracuse has had turnover problems this year. Is Randy Esdell a solid head coach? Uconn had more NFL players last yr then anyone in the league and didn't come close to winning the Big East.

Stookey - leave Stewart alone. Like WVU fans said, he is a quality individual and the jury is still out on him. The man is royal and that's more I can say about his predecessor. This discussion is not about UCONN vs. WVU. Until UCONN can win at WVU, it is not even a discussion which team is better right now. We will see this year.

WVU got a lot of talent. The way they make mental mistakes is due to lack of toughness. In some ways that's due to coaching.

Good luck to WVU. I hope they can get better this year. I picked WVU to win the conference at beginning of the year BTW.
