RE: RANK THE BEAST AFTER WEEK 5
UC's offense hasn't face a defensive line like the Bulls. I'm looking forward to see how this turns out...

And South Florida defense has not faced an offense like UC. It will be a very good football game.

RE: RANK THE BEAST AFTER WEEK 5
pressure on Pike and keeping USF offense on the field as long as possible is key for USF....if they can do this and not turn it over a bunch, they will win.
However, if either they can't pressure Pike or their offense sputters giving UC chances on offense, I like our chances....you can't give our offense chances or good field position, we will sting you more times than not.

RE: RANK THE BEAST AFTER WEEK 5
Tier 1
1. South Florida
2. Cincinnati
You guys have a more impressive overall resume, but I think we are better. Playing like we didnt care against SU today makes me nervous though. I dont see any chance of us overlooking Cincy, but i also dont see much of a chance of us not dropping at least 1 game that we shouldnt. Maybe @Rutgers.
Tier 2
3. Pittsburgh
4. West Virginia
5. UConn
This group bothers me. Any one of them is a blown 4th quarter lead away from being ranked. Pitt and WVU are close, but i think pitt is a bit better.
Tier 3
6. Rutgers
7. Syracuse
RUs win over Maryland does look better now. And Cuse is competitive. Too bad rutgers was unable to stay respectable, having a top 25 team in the new york market would do great things for the big easts perception.
Tier 4
Louisville
Hire tuberville. Kragthorpe is the new Greg Robinson.

What scares me bout USF is your history in the month of October if you know what I mean. Now if you get through this month then it is USF not UC that has the higher upside.
Who would have thunk 5 years ago when us, UC and USF joined the "New" BIG EAST that our programs would have this much impact. UofL along with WVU gave the "New" BIG EAST some breathing space while it allowed Rutgers, UConn, Pitt, UC and USF to gather it legs and make this IMHO a stronger league from top to bottom then the old BIG EAST.
Yes there is no Miami BUT you have some quality programs that are filling the void nicely.

I don't want to get into ridiculous mudslinging. But I have seen a lot of people put down UC's accomplishments, which I don't understand. Cincinnati is the defending Big East champions, that's enough.

It's pretty interesting that you put Syracuse ahead of Rutgers, and I might be inclined to do so. Syracuse's schedule has been tougher then Rutger's, though both have played Top 10 teams.

Agree with this. Cincy deserves it.
Couple points about USF though. 1) There was a natural let down against Syracuse after the FSU win (Iowa anyone). Yet USF still won by 14 on the road against an improving Syracuse (Should have been 17 if we had a FG kicker who could actually make a FG).
And 2) Most of those 5 Ints were because of our D. We have turned into a serious ball hawking team on D. Don't act like they were all gift wrapped to us.

Definitely a byproduct of Coach Tresey, imo. That was always a signature of his defenses at UC - I'm extremely nervous about a situation next Thursday where his defense forces a few early turnovers that are converted into points, putting the Bearcats into an early hole on the road.

RE: RANK THE BEAST AFTER WEEK 5
1. Cincy - Easily the most consistent team to date.
2. USF - The Freshman QB is probably going to cost them a game sometime this season.
3 Pitt - Has the talent to win the conference, but until they play both halves of the same game, they belong here or lower.
4. UConn - Solid team, will play a role in determining the eventual Conference Champs.
5A. - WVU - Could win the conference or lose them all. If they play the game they had against Colorado against any BE team, they probably lose. Clean up the turnovers and you are right there in the conference race.
5B. - Rutgers - Will go as far as their QB takes them. Savage is going to be a good one, but like Daniels, inexperience will probably cost them a game or two. Without Savage, a lack of talent will cost them more.
7. Syracuse - Improving. Will bite somebody this year. WVU could lose against them if they turn the ball over this week. The Dome is becoming a tough place to play again.
8. Louisville - There is talent on this team, but the execution and depth will keep you from going far.

If we're ever going to win the Big East we obviously need to shed this moniker of the meltdown months -- I'd like our school to have no excuses. With that said we have arguably the toughest October in the entire Big East this year. Cincinnati followed by Pitt and then West Virginia. After that we get a bye week before finishing our season. It's going to be a tough stretch of games this month and I hope we don't get unfairly lambasted for losing some games.

I think a lot hinges on whether Curtis Young is back for the USF game. He is our best defensive player and pass rusher by far. With Young, UC can get pressure on the quarterback easily with a four man rush but without him, the pass rush is much more inconsistent. I like our defense against Daniels rushing the ball because our safeties and outside linebackers are incredibly fast. I really think he is going to have to pass the ball to put points up on UC. UC has been pretty weak against the dink and dunk stuff across the middle the past few weeks. It might be the result of a vanilla defense or maybe our inside linebackers just aren't very good. Regardless should be a great game and it sucks we have to wait two weeks for it.

We've also played Cover2 and given up the middle of the field to rush/passing to prevent the big pass plays due to our injuries.....but Battle is back so that will help and if we get Young back we will look more like we did vs Rutgers than Fresno State.......thank goodness.

You know USF will get slammed if they lose BEast games. Everybody says The BEast is weak, remember?
