Major Harris was a great athlete...I got to see him play at the Sun Bowl (Snow Bowl that day) against Oklahoma State. I think he left a year early for NFL but, with the benefit of hindisght, should have stayed another year at WVU.

I agree, Tallgrass. The Major should have stay in Morgantown for another year. My father and I both said it after the 1989 season, when he declared. However, he wanted to try for the NFL. Hindsight is 20-20...

Harris was a very exciting player, a forerunner of the Michael Vick/Pat White type QBs who have come after. Glad to see him receiving these tributes.

I remember SU's Don McPherson as well. The Eastern teams of the '80's were certainly entertaining.

Yep ... Syracuse, WVU, Penn State had some very good, very exciting teams in the mid-late 80s.

-- I met a guy once who played college football at a small eastern school...he told me that in his college career..he lined up against Pitt/Dan Marino, Boston College/Doug Flutie and West Virginia/Jeff Hostetler....not too bad
