LMFAO - Mark Beier ripping on FIU SID big time. saying the statistics they are providing are not only late - but extremely inaccurate. Never seen anything like it in all his years of broadcasting. Probably working with a cheap Casio calculator and can't figure out the reverse Polish notation.

BTW - I heard somebody last week talking about what a great academic institution that U of Florida was. I was stunned. In comparison to what - Florida State, Jacksonville, and South Florida??? Of course the idiot making the comment was a former UF player - and he was ripping on a USC player about how all they did at USC was concentrate of football. Talk about delusional...

If only I could agree more, I would.

FIU's actions against Miami a few years ago revealed a great deal. To visit Miami AND start some trouble? FIU has to be the dumbest program in the FBS.

It's not enough to plan for FIU's game, one must address their b.s. as well.

Heard this on the radio as well...all I could do is shake my head. I don't know if I've heard of anyone botching the stats of late....03-phew

Something about the stats - I was keeping track of the game on ESPN.com on my phone, and there were numerous times when there were mistakes. There was a time when Stephen Williams had 1 catch for (-32) yards and an FIU WR had 1 catch for (-56) yards.

On that play it was more like a yard in bounds when he gave him a moderate shove.

The officiating was very suspect all game. I suppose that would be putting it mildly.

Down in Ft Lauderdale this weekend the locals all raved about how every one of the state institutions are this or that delusional academic ranking. The one I heard most often was about UF being top 20 academically in the nation. And that FIU was a good academic school. But judging by the students I encountered I would beg to differ.
Maybe UF has improved a lot but Miami and Florida St used to be good academis institutions. Maybe not so much anymore.

RE: HERE WE GO
I've never seen such poor officiating. FIU had 5 first downs by penalty...4 of those had to have been pass interference while in the red zone that kept drives alive. We were playing against 14 instead of 11.

UF is actually a very good school academically. Most of my friends from HS went there, and they were all very bright and successful kids. They are all very successful today as well. If I recall, they have the highest SAT and GPA requirements in the state.

FSU has a few very good programs where they excel. I believe one of them is Actuary Sciences. We have a ton of FSU grads here where I work.

U of Miami is really a graduate (or higher) school or law school. They'll seem to let anyone in as an undergrad, but it's very tough to get into the law and medical schools, which are both quite good.

Florida's engineers are top notch and FSU's computer science dept and Supercomputer Research Dept are of the best in the country. It doesn't take much thinking to realize the space and tech corridoor in Florida would feed the Universities.

It also really doesn't pay to knock the academics of another school, without or without first gaining knowledge. Just makes the locals look.... local.
