Not a lot, but a quick statement about UC being very good this year. Craig James seems to be a big UC guy this year.

Yes UC got some well deserved pubs. That being said, why is Ole Miss #4 team in the country? That's right, they are in the SEC. Now that South Carolina beat Ole Miss, they will magically rise to the #15 team in the country soon cause those announcing guys already said so. That's how it works in the human polls.

I wounder if Pitt smoke NC State this weekend greater than how S. Carolina beat NC State, where will they be ranked if they will be ranked at all.

Ole Miss got their big ranking by beating Memphis and SE Louisiana (who?). Now that's a tough line up there.

I noticed that too. I love how ESPN tries to frame the debate in certain situations before the debate can even commence. Once it became pretty obvious that Ole Miss was going to have a hell of a time coming back, down 16-3, Fowler immediately started in with the "well, the Rebels had swine flu......not that it should take away from S. Carolina's performance, buuuuuut........" Yeah, swine flu made Ole Miss the most overrated team in the country. That's what it was. Couldn't have been media hype initiated by schmucks like him at all. Then, like you said, once USC pulled out the victory they immediately started hyping the Gamecocks - seriously, the Gamecocks? - as a legitimate top 15 team. 03-lmfao Because they looked like crap against a hilariously overrated opponent, at home, and their QB managed to not completely throw away the W with his incompetence, they're somehow top 15. bull****.

Those two examples just encapsulate the problem I have with any kind of news these days. It's never just straight-up news reporting like it used to be. It's all commentary, 99.9% given by people who are completely unqualified. It's not just ESPN, it's the entire culture of "journalism" right now. MSNBC, Fox News, CNN.........it's all crap. :soapbox:

The pathetic thing was, the media basically said the only reason Ole Miss was ranked as high as they were was because they have a good, not great team, and favorable schedule. I don't think they play teams like Florida or Georgia, and they have LSU and Alabama at home. And I'm not making it up, that is what the majority of people said, and the reason they ranked Ole Miss that high.

ESPN paid a lot of money to the SEC for the rights to show the games. Notice the new SEC logo used when they cut to or come back from commercials.

So naturally, they are going to push for these teams to be ranked, even when they clearly do not deserve it.
