New column on Walter Stewart
Walter Stewart is a tremendous story. When he was a young kid, he was seriously injured when he was attacked by a dog. As a teenager, he was separated from his mother after an incident at home and placed with foster parents Keith and Lynn Fields who helped to raise him in Ashville, OH near Columbus.

Despite having 17 sacks and forcing 6 fumbles as a senior at Teays Valley High School, Stewart was not heavily recruited . . . 6'5", 195 pound linebacker/defensive ends usually aren't.

"Akron and Youngstown State were the only two offers I had," Walter said. "Once Cincinnati offered me a scholarship, I jumped at it."

Here's the the entire story:

Hope to see some of you at the Brian Kelly show on Thursday night at Montgomery Inn.

Go 'Cats!

RE: New column on Walter Stewart
It's amazing how many productive BCS players we have that weren't heavily recruited...

Great job Dan. The defense was huge at OSU, and I thought Walter
Stewart was a major factor in the win. I look for him to continue to improve and be a team leader in yrs to come.
Here's a feel good story about him signing with UC from what else, the Columbus Dispatch.

If he gets up to 6-6 250-260 next year like he says (and I believe he will) and keeps his speed and quickness he could be an absolute terror for opposing offenses. He's an easy guy to cheer for.

We have a LOT of easy guys to cheer for.....many of them have amazing stories......what a great team and program!!!!!

THe OrSU fans I was chatting with said it's hard to "hate on" UC.....no cocky players, they knew about Gilyard hugging that kid last year, etc. It's fun to beat people, and they kind of like it! hahah...jk

I believe that Robbie Armstrong is the Next Man In for the outside LB position.
