RU really needs to capitalize on this. The terps are reloading as a team but I don't think anyone expected Maryland to be floundering like this.

Fear the turtle indeed..

I am likely going to the game next weekend. Has anyone been to a Maryland game as a visiting fan before?

Due to freak plays (70-yard QB scrambles and 60-yard interception returns). The Terps had control of the game and there was no doubt they'd outlast JMU in overtime.

However add in the Mid TN State, and the fears about our cornerbacks are proving to be true. Outside of Kenny Tate our secondary is crap.

Whether thru freak plays or not, there are NO REASONS for Maryland to lose to Middle Tenn and need to go to OT with a 1AA team.

FIU had two late scores to pull in within 8 but they were held under 90 yards through the first 3 quarters. Meanwhile our offense played sloppy ALthough they put up about 400 yards of total offense they missed field goals had penalties in the redzone and dropped passes thatended our drives. The game was really never in doubt but still we probably should have beat them by more. Either way we have a lot of time to iron out the wrinkles against a pretty bad maryland team next week and an even worse texas southern before we get into BE play.

I would just be worried about how Savage played. But, who knows? Maybe he learned something in the process.

Too be honest I'm not that worried about Savage. He is a true freshman but he certainly isn't playing like it. His stats yesterday seem bad but thats only because WR were dropping easy balls and falling on their routes. He also was pressured by the FIU Defense and hit a lot of times since our overrated Oline has been doing god knows what but I like the way he handled everything. He has been managing games pretty well only had one delay of game since he started the half against cincy (coaches fault) and no Intereptions. Not worried about Savage.....now as for the Oline.....thats a whole other story.

It's been almost 25 years since the last time I was there, but from the postings every other year on the Clemson boards nothing has changed. The absolutely most classless fans in the ACC.

However, with the way their season is going you'll likely not have to deal with as many of them.

Well not exactly...he is playing cuz your other QBs suck. 03-lmfao

That said this will make him seasoned for next year and if Rutgers gets 7 wins the bowl prep will help him a lot.

RE: Maryland loses to Middle Tennessee
Maryland should be 0-3 right now, JMU gave the game away during the final minutes. RU should beat UMD by several touchdowns. Things are not looking good over there in College Park. Before the basketball season last year, many fans were calling for Gary William's head. He molds a team without much talent into a tournament team and now his job is safe for one more year. UMD fans are now calling for the Fridge's head. Both Gary and the Fridge have been unable to recruit the DC area with much success recently. UMD has become the 3rd or 4th option for some of the top recruits in this area. Maryland looks like they are going back to the Terps of the late 80s and most of the 90s.

I have been to many games at Byrd. The stadium is not much to write home about. The visitor's section is in the lower corner near the field house, several sections down from UMD's student section. There is also some visitor seats in the upper-upper deck section as well. You will not be able to see much of the game if you have tickets in the very low sections on the lower horseshoe. UMD's students can be really hostile, but with the recent lack of success, they may be a little more tamed. Traffic after the game is not too bad, depending on where you park. You can also catch the metro to College Park and just take the UMD quick buses to the stadium. If you can get their early, there are cash lots at the Comcast Center and / or free and cheap parking on University Blvd and churches along University or Mez.

Yes they do (slightly). But where UT-Knoxville's football stadium has about 105,000 fans every game, MTSU set an "attendance record" when Memphis was there with 28,000. They are a good team this year, and are capable of beating a lot of teams (especially those who shoot thmeselves in the foot with Mistakes as Memphis did). We played Ole Miss (now #4) a much closer game.

Murfreesboro may be in the Nashville metro area. But it's not really on the beaten path. Also, it's not a college town. MTSU is more of an afterthought in the city's consciousness. Knoxville is a college town, however. The whole city of Knoxville revolves around UT...

Because he spent 1 year as a backup point gaurd at Duke is no indication that he is not a good qb. In fact, he could turn out to be a better qb than he was as a point guard. I would take Paulus over any qb at Rutgers and any other qb in the BE not named Pike and Grothe. My only regret is that we dont have him for a longer period of time. The kid has played some tough teams and is improving every week. He could start at Rutgers. Afterall, he was the USA Todays consensus #1 qb in the nation coming out of high school, but chose bb instaed, which he was pretty good at btw, and starting for 3years at Duke. IMO, he seems to be the best qb we have had since D McNabb. But our backup qb is not too bad either.

I would not classify Knoxville as a "college town". Too big. Lot's of other stuff besides UT-k.

But, you are right in one aspect. The entire state revolves around UT-k, including Memphis.

If we could have a couple of successful football seasons at Middle Tennessee--- watch out. I agree we do have a ways to go.

Not many folks realize that our county is over 250,000 strong. We just need to get more "blue" and less "orange". Hard to do when it is shoved down your throat since birth.
